After sending some time researching and discussing with others, Ive come to the realization that Ive been wrong about the U.S. immigration and deportation policies.

Im all for people coming to America in search of a better life. Im also all for people fleeing their home country and seeking refuge in America. However, there are defined steps and policies in place to enforce a standard. These steps are:

1. Find out if eligible.
2. Overcome barriers to ineligibility.
3. File USCIS Form N-400.
4. Get fingerprinted.
5. Attend a Citizenship Interview.
6. Attend the Oath Ceremony.

If they can complete these steps before they enter the country, great. Welcome to America.

If they are fleeing their country because of political/economical unrest or stability or religious persecution and need to find refuge in America, fine. However, these persons will need to stay in a designated area where they will be processed and be required to complete the above steps else be returned to their country of origin.

In regards to illegal entry, same process as those seeking safe haven.

For the current citizens that grew up in the USA, but were brought in illegally, it sucks to have to go through this process and I sympathize with you, but unless you can prove you or your parents/legal guardians completed the above steps, you will need to go through the process of being processed and documented.

America is still a country where it will accept your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. Theres just a few things we need you to do to comply with modern regulations.

Most Western countries have a clause in the law that the country of origin needs to be officially safe for them to return to.

The English settlers invaded, you learnt your lesson, you now have measures to protect against invasions.

My two cents is that while a borderless world would be better in general, we currently do have borders and we're pretty lucky America doesn't have firing squads on the border like the Koreas.

Only if people were culturally homogeneous.

I believe with open borders people will still sort of osmosis into cultural hegemonies over time

Are the kids being forced to do manual labor, endure metal/physical experimentations, or being killed?

If not, Trump is not literal Hitler. I dont care for the guy at all, but hes not Hitler.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you there. I've largely stayed out of it, but it's all over twitter for one. And two, there are plenty of liberal news sites and blogs literally equating them to concentration camps. Slate actually wrote an article to defend calling them concentration camps.

https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2018/06/why-its-fair-to-compare-the-detention-of-migrants-to-concentration-camps.html

I think Learn Progress was the first one to publish an article calling them concentration camps, then a bunch of other 'news' outlets picked up on it. Although many of these news organizations don't outright call them concentration camps, they reference other outlets so they can say 'We didn't say it, we swear'. Something like, 'Did Donald Trump create concentration camps for children?'

It's stupid.
