And like the quote someblackguy brings up, that civility is a tool for white supremacy?

How would you convince people that it is wrong to hate people because of skin color?

You do know there is literally grand wizards who renounced their ideals because a black guy befriended them and showed them through not hating them the error of their ways.

How does this photo make you feel?

This black woman was protesting this KKK man. Then the mob tried to kill him.

So she PROTECTED him.

Now, she didn't have to do this. It wasn't her responsibility.
But she glorified the human ideal by doing so. She has gained respect and visibility as a great human.
Why? Because she could put aside her hate (actually she probably had none) and protect her enemy. That takes a strong spirit and a mind that has compassion.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keshia_Thomas
In June 1996 a branch of the Ku Klux Klan announced plans to hold a rally in Ann Arbor, Michigan.[3] Several people in the Ann Arbor area planned to hold a protest against the Ku Klux Klan's presence on the day of the rally. Thomas was one of several people that attended and protested from an area that had been fenced and set aside for the protesters.[4]

The protest proceeded until one protester announced over a megaphone that there was "a Klansman in the crowd".[4] The unnamed man was a middle-aged white male wearing a T-shirt depicting the Confederate flag and an "SS tattoo".[5] The man began to run but was knocked down, kicked, and beaten with placards.[5]

Thomas, who was at that time 18 years old, shielded the man from the crowd and shouted for the attackers to stop and is credited as saying that you "can't beat goodness into a person".[6] Shortly after that point the police arrived on the scene.[7]

A news report stated that seven anti-Klansmen protesters were arrested at the event and a large group of protesters were tear gassed after they attempted to enter the police station where fifteen Klansmen were being kept for their safety.[7] The police later reported that the man was not a Klan member.[8]

how does that make me feel? I'm happy she could do something like that but don't I don't agree that she should feel obligated.

Also, this "treat people how you want to be treated" shit would work alright...if years and years ago, black men weren't being hanged for their mistreatment of white people...how dare they want rights.

Like I said "side of the fence". I don't necessarily disagree with people going out of their way to try and pull people off that side of racism but I don't think anyone should ever feel obligated to do that when it involves this discussion of racism.

I mean, why can't the racists try and befriends people that they're racist against? Why can't they do it? What's wrong with them? They sick?

Now, you tried to handwave the argument away saying I just can't get it.

But that is fine. You cannot argue Keisha Thomas didn't get it.

And what did SHE SAY?

Boogie is not a nazi is he?

Boogie is not a KKK member is he?

He is just a centrist who shared his opinion.

We went to the extremes when that isn't even the point of the thread.
It wasn't even to get along with some KKK guy, but to not tell a guy like Boogie to die because he shared an opinion that disagrees.

Lol, I didn't suggest that at all. I questioned why does any side have to feel obligated to try and sway a racist's ways? I asked what did anyone of those people did to deserve it? For asking for rights? How dare they? That's sarcasm.

First, I must confess that over the last few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season."

People will die no matter what happens, especially in these cases. People keep treating racism like it doesn't exist when its living proof all around us. "That wasn't racist" or "why even pull the race card?" on EVERYTHING must mean it doesn't exist because everything is non racist because there has to be SOME excuse as to why this happened and why it happened to a certain someone of a certain group of people. Surely coincidence. All of it.

Here is the thing. I HATE Sarkeesian with a unhealthy passion. And Boogie I am annoyed by and honestly feel bad for. But he got me to defend her.

As far meeting hate with civility; that doesn't work. Until a few days ago I really was about the being civil stuff. But really when you are civil to someone who hates you that makes you weak.
