Why 2016? Well not only did you have the election which trump won, but CBS came under control of a man named Leslie Moonves, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leslie_Moonves. Leslie was outspoken of his support of the president and used his control of the networks and websites and ads to force pro trump and pro russian views. Gamefaqs is one of those sites. The mod application process is basically a "i know a good guy trust me" process, which we already know. The applications are a way to open contact and find pit your political views. Youre pro-trump? Well good news, you just have to allow and give special treatment to pro trump posts. When the russia investigation started, an influx of alt accounts and users and mods began pro russia posts. Its all because this guy Leslie sold out to the russians for that sweet CBS CEO money, plus whatever extra on the side. And im sure in return the site admins love some cuts of the ad revenue in return for not banning or suspending pro russia and pro trump users.
