About 40% of people do less than 5 hours of gaming a week. This is fucking pathetic. I don't understand how the gamers on this board could've become so lazy and casual. I mean...less than 5 hours a week? Even 10 hours a week is slightly casual.

Do people think the 8th and 9th generations are bad so far, or something?

Although I admit, things have gone downhill a little bit since the end of the 7th generation, i.e. about 2013. That had so many great games, like the CODs, the Halos, Alan Wake, NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams, Wario Land: The Shake Dimension, Galaxy 1 and 2, FEAR 1, and Tony Hawk's Project 8.

If mobile games count, I'm probably in the 15-20 range. If not, then it's more like 5-10. I just don't have as much free time to sit down and play on a console like I used to. But being able to easily multitask and play a phone game while watching/doing something else is a godsend.

You've been here as long as the rest of us and a lot of people are well into their late 20s and 30s here. Not many people with a ton of free time anymore.

And why is that? Most people here are unmarried (and in some cases, kissless virgins), and it's not like they work more than 40 hours a week.

It varies wildly depending on how much I like whatever game I'm currently working on. Some games completely claim my free time while others I can only play for an hour or so a couple of times a week.

Things are improving, slightly, but I can't believe how big the gaps people have are. I mean, people are going for a few weeks without gaming at all, because they don't feel like it. Most serious gamers probably don't go for more than a few days at a time without gaming.

What has happened to people on CE?

I've played so many games that I now have ludicrously high standards. It has to have an amazing story (Killer7, RPG Maker game The Way), a decent story with a great atmosphere (Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines), or addicting gameplay with good art and sound design (indies like Darkest Dungeon or Risk of Rain). Most games bore the fuck out of me now.

This is good. 20 - 25 hours a week is a nice amount. And I'd say that's hardcore.

It's called growing up and having a life that makes it hard to play video games as much as you may want to. Many people on these boards have been here for a LONG time and now having families, jobs, etc that take up a large portion of their time.

Some weeks I'll be lucky to get 2-3 hours in while others I might get 20+. Just depends on how much free time I have.

Around 8-10 a week is a fair estimate for me. My other hobbies are more interesting so they get most of my free time and life in general doesn't allow 20-30 hours a week anymore (which I wouldn't do anyways because that gets boring as shit)

I will say I bought Nier: Automata the other week (which is the first game I've bought in about a year and one I would never generally buy in the first place), and that game really has sucked me in. I've got 13 hours in a week on that game so far which is a huge amount for me.

This is what a gamer looks like. If that's true, he's playing for like 8 or 9 hours a day, which is excellent. I must admit, though, I don't know how knuxhole finds that much stuff to play, to play that much. Perhaps he has a reasonable paying job, and after paying the rent and food, etc. spends it all on video games. Which is good!

I don't think the problem is people having full-time jobs or families at all. When it comes to their leisure time, I think they'd much rather watch films or TV, or get drunk with friends. Video games are a low leisure priority for them. This is still very sad.

Its easy to put in 60+.

Plus there are LOADS of games to play. I have 8 on backlog and new releases coming!!!

And multiplayer games can eat up a lot of time, a lot!

Other: it depends.

Some weeks and times of the year are busier than others, but I would say, on average, I play about 5-10 hours a week. I used to be able to put in 12-16 hours a day when I played all the Final Fantasy games for the first time. Now Im just kind of losing interest, tbh. And I dont have as much time.
