I don't get it
So you pay with your credit card first, then they give you a bill and you write the percentage you want to tip on that receipt wtf?
How does that even work and what if they enter a higher number and you don't notice

You pay attention and if they enter a higher number than intended you call your credit card company and dispute it

only the percentage nothing more

order was 10$
and wanted to tip 20% it will only take 2$.

its a pending payment. if you look at your bank statement on the app or online immediately after it will say something like "waiting for final amount from merchant". After you leave they take your receipt and go back to finalize the price. It stays pending just in case the final amount needs to be challenged but if you don't challenge it they take the tip out.

i see how this is playing out, the banks are trying to screw the consumer over. oh man i'm so pissed fuck those banks. credit unions are the only ones who won't do this to us.

they did this a year ago with dumb policy i couldn't pay my rent with cash at the bank to my landlords account.

So do Americans have pending charges for tuition the entire semester until they tip the professor after the final exam?

Its really only applicable at restaurants and such. Like you won't see a pending charge if you buy something at Target. Its going to be restaurants and like, mom and pop barber shops that can add in the option for potential tips.

What? I have never seen a restaurant that has you write down the percentage, only the raw amount you wish to tip. So if you want to tip 20% on a $10 bill, you write $2, not 20%.

I think I've discovered the problem. It turns out you're just not that bright.

Why you mad that Americans have to staple a $20 bill to their final exam in order to pass
