Last night I had trouble copying a folder over so I figured I would just format it, start fresh and see if that does anything.

Every time I format the SD card it seems to go through the motions but if I close to window and reopen the SD card nothing is gone.

i cant figure this out....Ive tried quick format, slow format and ive even tried just deleting the folder myself with right click.

each time it looks like itll remove the files, and indeed in the case of slow format took over an hour to finish...but its still there.

are these files the undead?

If it matters this is an MP3 player, and I have the MP3 connected to USB to view the microsd card. its a bunch of music files. they still play. i dont have the ability to connect a microsd directly to my PC at the moment.

Does adaptor have a copy-lock switch on it that you failed to disable?

it's dead.

So with flash memory, they have a maximum number of reads and writes before they go bad.

often it's just the writing that becomes impossible to do, with you still being able to read the memory just fine.

It's probably a bad connection from the PC to the SD card through the MP3 player.

My phone would work like this but it would corrupt the data.

well i suppose ill just buy a new one...and then a dedicated card reader because that seems useful.

I might go up to 128 gig this time though if my mp3 player can handle it. since im 10 gigs away from reaching 64 ill soon hit that mark.

I have a Samsung Evo in my phone. Been almost a year and a half now and it's still kicking. I can only speak for my experience with this one, as opposed to the likely millions that have been sold, but at this point I'd probably be willing to get another one.
