I went fishing at a reservoir a few kilometers out of town and I hopped over a cattle gate to get to another side of the shore to cast from. There is a large power line tower overhead that I walked under and I can hear this little son of a bitch screeching at me.

I kept walking and it kept screeching, and then was hovering in place behind me like a hummingbird or some shit. Then it got really close to the back of my head (like 5 or 6 feet away), so reflex kicked in and I lightly smacked it with my fishing rod, which made it spiral like a downed helicopter into the grass. It immediately got up, flew back to the power line tower, and was making this really pissed off grumbly sound.

Anyway that's what I did with my Sunday afternoon.

I actually didn't today. I was there for about 2 hours and then quit. Just caught a mild sunburn and pissed off the wildlife.

it's nest was nearby and it thought you were trying to hunt it's eggs. one time in the middle of a downtown area, I had this happen. 2 black birds hovered around me screeching as I walked down a street. and they kept flying from tree to tree down the road screaming at me. dumb birds. I wouldn't have even know they were there, let alone their nest, if they had just left me alone

By bird I thought you meant a woman. How disappointing.

I've had to punk off animals before, namely raccoons who got in my trash, but it never escalated into an actual fight for some reason.
