I work part time at a game store, and almost every game that is traded in I can get coins from it. Which means most people don't get their coins cause you can only do it once per cartridge.

Just remember to do it.

if you buy a full-priced game, you get like 3 to 6 bucks of eshop credit.

It's not much, but it adds up

When you put in the game and it installs, press + on it and it opens a menu. In that menu you can register the game with your account, and it gives you a certain amount of coins. You can redeem those coins to take money off of digital games.

Buy digitally, though, as they give 5 times as many coins.

wtf, I didn't know this was even a thing.

Can this be done if I've had the games for months already at this point, but never done this before?

Just remember the coins expire. If you want to wait for something I'd recommend holding off on redeeming them until closer to whenever something releases.

I've heard you only have a year to do it, but could be wrong.

Also how did they make it only redeemable once per cartridge if they're read only cartridges?

Identifier built into the cartridge that the Switch reads and sends to Nintendo

Also yeah you only get a year after the release of a game to do it apparently
