Greetings and salutations, and I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

I know I'm so behind in terms of all of this, but I recently started watching a little bit of anime, and found out that AZ has this HUGE Comicon each May that I knew nothing about, so now I'm super excited!

I can't afford to buy a ridiculously expensive handmade costume and I can't sew so I'm going to most likely get a huntress costume from Party City, with a little Skyrim green and silver circlet from Etsy, so I can be a little archer/ huntress.

It's not super original or fancy, but it's an adorable costume.

Have you ever gone to a Comicon before? How was it?
I know it's not for a long time but I'm really excited!

Do you mean a convention?

ComiCon is a specific convention, it's not a broad term.

Yeah.
It used to be called Phoenix Comicon, until they were told if needed to be changed. After that it was called Phoenix Comic Fest. Now it's Phoenix Fan Fusion.

It usually draws in about 60,00 people and has exhibits on several floors of the Phoenix Convention Center so I'm all hyped!

Oh, so have you been to cons before, or will this be your first?

Also, do you plan on driving to it each day, or will you be staying nearby? I have no idea where you live, so it could really change everything if you need to get a hotel/motel.

I've never been to one before.
We're probably just going for one day instead of all 4.
We live about an hour away from Phoenix so we're paying for parking for the day.
What's DragonCon?

All right, good luck.
You might want to think about parking further away and then Lyft/Uber-ing in. Parking with that amount people will be tight.

Other than that, bring water, some snacks, and have fun! Check out any panels you're interested in, bring money to spend at the Con, and make sure to have some down time.

I've used the same Luffy costume every year, though I try to at least make minor improvements to the wig, the vest, and/or the shorts.
Coolest thing I saw was probably Stan Lee (and getting him to sign one of my Spider-Man comics). Runner up would probably be Steve Blum or Alton Brown, though I've gotten to see and occasionally meet quite a few minor celebrities. I'm a big fan or voice actors and such. I got to see people like John DiMaggio, Rob Paulsen, Maurice LaMarche, Nolan North, Richard Horvitz, Caitlyn Glass, Phil LaMarr, Melissa Fahn, Mike McFarland, Ian Sinclair, and many others.
Don't usually buy a lot of expensive merch, but the last few years we've spent something like 50-60 bucks on comics each time. Paid for a couple autographs and some little things like car decals but nothing too exciting.

Same here, been going since 2011.
We got badges again but a family member flew in from overseas so we had to get refunds.

Its such a hassle but those 4 days fly by extremely quickly.

Its kind of scary how big its become, everything has lines now, even the free stuff.. wasnt that way a few years ago.

*sigh*.. bummed we wont be there, but really glad we dont have to make the journey down there, make plans etc

Yeah, when we became experienced Comic-Con attendees we had a different cosplay for each day.
I've gone has Shard from the Archie Sonic comics, Marine the Raccoon, Isabelle from Animal Crossing, Squall from FFVIII, Dipper from Gravity Falls, Gambit from Xmen, almost did One Punch Man (even shaved my head)..

Coolest things are mostly the celebs you see and sometimes get to talk to -
Voice of Mario, Takashi Iizuka, Jun Senoue, Stan Lee (naturally), Nathan Fillion, Ben Affleck, Shaq, the casts of GoT, Simpsons, Family Guy, Venture Bros.. list goes on

Craziest thing was seeing Hulk Hogan, the legend himself is suprisingly short.

I dont buy much at the Con, maybe a Con variant comic, shirt or Pop Funko... while exclusives are impossible to get, theres nothing else I cant get cheaper elsewhere. I spend a ton on food and Starbucks thou (no cooking, just eating out for 4 days)

I've visited the comic con in Tampa, Florida which isn't one of the biggest but it's still fun. I didn't dress up but saw lots of people in costume, all the way from LOTR to Call of Duty to Star Wars and others. All of the panels and/or events you have to pay (ahead of time and/or at comic con) to get into; so I mainly strolled the floor and checked out the booths which sold everything imaginable unless it had something to do with Disney (no Kingdom Hearts which my daughter's into). There were also events not on the main floor which is where I located the pokemon fanatics that allowed players to battle them in order to win badges (they'd even let you use one of their game systems to do it on, believe it or not). I plan to return with my daughter this year since she's a highly skilled pokemon player.

Growing up in San Diego, I used to hit up Comic Con every year. Somewhere along the way, it lost that feeling I got before and wasn't much fun anymore. Last time I went was 2013. Used to volunteer to get in for free, that was kinda cool.

I didn't read through everything yet. But I've been to Awesome Con with my cousin. It was a blast. I just wish I had more money. Would definitely go again. I've been planning to go to another one, but I need time and money. We were going to go to the San Diego one, but it was going to be insanely expensive. And just crazy all together.

I've only been to a handful but they were fun. haven't had a chance to go to any recent ones. as long as I stayed around the like minded comic book people I was good.

Dressed up? Sailor Mars, Sally Jupiter/Silk Spectre I, Liepard
Coolest thing? Really slick autographed movie poster/photo set of actors from THEM
Craziest? A guy with the nickname "The Real Green Lantern" had LED/lazers attached to each of the gloves on his fingers and it was AMAZING on the dance floor
What did you buy? I am not a big spender - neatest thing was an almost holographic pop-up print by an artist I follow
Everything? The comic cons have grown and changed greatly over the years... I forgot what space is on the convention floor...

Have fun at your Comic Con!

I went to a small one, so small that it was literally just a comic convention and nothing else. I saw one table that sold non-Marvel, non-DC DVDs and that was it. My Link cosplay was clearly not appreciated. I wish I lived near a decent Comic Con instead...
