No one's arguing for that.

Im guessing the people who love mowing lawns either dont have a large lawn or have oversized equipment. Before I got a literal 15000$ lawnmower my yard took 5 hours a week to mow. Not fun at all. Now it takes an hour and a half. But still 15000$ lawnmower

Green space is good for you. People take it too far. Though obviously much less, some do try to maintain such things in places without enough water, which is bad. And I think people go way too far maintaining lawns sometimes. But green space is still good for people.

I'm in the country so I don't have a choice in keeping a lawn or not.

Well I mean I do have a choice but it's either "pay tens of thousands to get your property paved or lockstoned", "let the wilderness reclaim up to your deck", or "maintain the lawn that was here when you moved in."

I'd get it all replaced with clovers tbh. Clover lawns look better

damn, that's a beast. my friend picked something like this up at an equipment sale for like $350:

same brand but different and older model, and it was clearly well used, but you can't beat that price point for a working zero turn

as for string trimmers, I'm always extremely annoyed when going up against chain link fence or chicken wire. tends to eat through thin string and just tangles up anything thicker

Thats definitely a nice deal and I like the mower setup that way.

Weed whacking in general is just a huge dirty pain in the ass. One of the nice things about having the large mower deck is that since it goes a foot past the tires I save a lot of weed whacking because I can get under the bushes

Btw the seat on my lawnmower is more comfortable than any other seat in my house

Whats wrong with lawns being a part of American culture?

Americans aren't allowed to have a culture in 2018. Being American is wrong now, and so is being white, and so is being a male while being white. Don't be proud of your country unless you're talking about the people whose boots aren't currently in it. And you don't get a free pass on owning things unless you're not white, because it's exemplary when someone not white owns a big house or a nice car, but when it's someone white, of course they do. Doesn't matter if they worked for 60 years to get it or, hell, built the house with their own two god damn hands. You can't deserve anything when you're white. You can't earn anything when you're white. Everything is given to you, even if nobody gave it to you.

You can sit right there and stereotype the shit out of America, or white people, and it won't get a single degree warmer... you stereotype about any other culture, any other race, and you will feel the heat.

this is really great satire.

The funny thing is that it's far nicer on the other side of the fence. Probably because it's allowed to grow and probably gets more water from road runoff

4 real - has anyone ITT ever played baseball, football, soccer, etc. on their lawn?

yes. I grew up on 5 acres that is all landscaped. About 1 acres of woods, .5 acre of grassy hill, 3 acres of lawn on bottom of the hill, .5 acres on top of hill where the house is. we played many games of football, baseball, soccer, volleyball, paintball, rugby (as near we knew the rules), etc. my dad had a bunch of the halogen flood lights so we would line the hill with flood lights and play all the sports under the lights after dark, too.

Yeah just a plain lawn is boring. My ideal front yard would be:
-33% is space taken up by trees, maybe some box woods and other plants.
-33% rock beds with mostly rainbow rock.
-33% Grass strip a few pieces of sod wide down the middle for the walkway.

just because something is native doesn't mean it would require less maintenance. Just look at any wild field in the Northwest. Full of tough thick grass that grows like crazy.

As far as a low maintenance, low water usage lawn, something like micro clover is popular and is probably what I would do if I got a large lot and wanted a nice lawn. it comes from Europe, Asia and Africa. Of Fescue grass which is a grass that folds over at a certain point and self terminates so you have grass that never gets above 3-5" for the lawn types of the grass. It is from Europe.
