Depends on the background art. In the original release, you couldn't make anything out. In the new backgrounds, you can see it.

I think it depends on versions as well. Like, I've seen one video where you can't see it even with the updated backgrounds since it got cropped out. But then when I read it with Arria, she noticed it IMMEDIATELY and pointed it out.

I'm talking about the scene that occurs right after Ange meets with the boat captain to ask him to take her to Rokkenjima. As she is leaving, see says she can see something but neither the captain or Amakusa see it. Ange and her horrible imaginary friends react to it, but unless I missed it they never say what it is.

Yeah, they don't say what it is. You can sort of piece it together by the end of the episode if you pay close attention to some of the information they give you.

I still stand by my opinion that Ange, in a vacuum, is cool. And that basically all of the problems with her are how she's used and the part of the story she's in.

Ange has aspects to her and her story that are cool. They don't outweigh the bad parts though, I think.

I think Ange is pretty cool, and I've liked the stuff in the 'future' for the most part. It was the flashbacks that were hard to get through, both because some real rough stuff happened in them and it was kinda boring at times too.

This is also basically my opinion.

Ange in 1998 = great stuff
Ange's flashbacks to her own childhood = Alright, not great
Ange as a vehicle for Maria's flashbacks = Not good, and the direct reason the character is as disliked as she is

Episode 4 has my favorite Island Events by far I think. I'm really hyped to see what these tests are!! Also Battler declaring war on Kinzo, and Kinzo responding in kind was great.

Both George's and Jessica's scenes have been very cooler. It seems like, as the normal and magical worlds further converge on the island, that only due the forces of magic grow but perhaps also the strength of humans grow as well.

Jessica and George got played by the demons. Too bad, I almost though they could have won there. But obviously, all this anime fighting is just elaborate imaginings for what really happened. I definitely noticed how George's body was conveniently put back together and killed in a more conventional way.

I think that this call Jessica makes to Battler happened. Which means she was able to fight off the real killer but left mortally wounded. That's interesting. I don't know if Kinzo could actually physically do that, especially to both her and George.

Well I was waiting until the end of the episode to make a bigger post about it all, but let me just say this part where apparently Battler did something bad in the past he doesn't remember, and now this even is the blame for everything and Beatrice's attitude is deeply frustrating. I really hate stuff like this.

So, Battler isn't really Battler? Well that's, I guess out of nowhere but also stupid? Usually I'm all for insane twists. but this one rubs me the wrong way. I guess it was the way it was presented, like Battler did something bad and now all the killings are being blamed on him.

I give him a pass for being dumb there because what he being provoked into doing is so out of left field I can't blame him for not understanding what he is stepping into.

Like, it's hard for me to even know how much of this to take seriously considering I think there is a somewhat good change most of this stuff is just part of Ange's imagination.

Yeah, that's not really a spoiler at all. I've long since assumed that the magical battles are just representations of the real events made to look like magic. Like the battle between George and Gaap, George was probably actually just shot in the head, but the battle with Gaap was shown in order to obfuscate the truth.

I will say this reveal makes Beatrice's attitude towards battle make a bit more sense. She's frustrated he isn't the real Battler, and was hoping he would remember this past event. It was frustrating to me that she wouldn't just say what was on her mind, but not it makes sense as she needed to know if this Battler knew it or not. As long they story doesn't try to pull something dumb with this 'sin' and blame the killings solely on it things might be OK.

I did mention at the time it wasn't a spoiler, but reading it would change how you viewed the story so I was just being cautious. I think between now and then people were basically telling you as much without much warning or restraint so eh, doesn't matter as much now anyway.

Like, at some point in the middle of the laughing and humiliation Ange is going to calmly get up and do something cool. And that's what happened, and it WAS cool!!

Also, the Secret Origins of Uu- was very touching and just further shows how horrible Rosa is. More trashing of Rosa can make anything better.
