Yea is what you say when you indicate that you are in favor of something. Yay is an expression indicating joy or excitement, and thats it.

I want to make this topic all the time No problem. At least 90% of those topics say yay or nay in the title, and it always bugs me a little when I see it. DavidWong posted... "aye" > "yea" I could get on board with this. Aye or nay? sounds pretty good. TheDarkCircle posted... @0AbsoluteZero0 is a good guy, GREAT guy! Yay: "Expressing triumph, approval, or encouragement." Wrong. There were no examples of yay being used for yea at the Corpus of Contemporary American English... Only Collins English Dictionary has an entry for yay, and its only for the exclamatory sense... given that there is an unimpeachable substitute, I dont recommend that anyone use it. https://english.stackexchange.com/questions/817/is-yay-or-nay-an-acceptable-alternative-to-yea-or-nay --- -The Admirable ...
