The only option we get is to buy the movie at full price digitally/physically or we have to wait till it comes on cable/an online streaming platform (which has considerably less content than the American equivalent) which could literally take years

There are no options to "rent" a movie and keep it for a set amount of time for some bizarre reason yet there's no problem taking full price for a movie that just came out on Blueray

The whole point in buying a movie is one you are going to watch multiple times...man

In a world where movie rentals don't exist

Sir, did you read my post?

We can rent movies here but there are mostly really old ones. It feels like just a bait to buy new releases because I can't think of another reason why we can't rent the same titles you yanks can

Movies are available for rental about 3-4 months after the initial cinema release date in Sweden. There is a big ass chain called Hemmakvll (Home Evening/Evening at Home) dedicated to it as well as many grocery stores having the service and digital rental sites. Hemmakvll do rent 1 movie, keep it for 24 hours and rent 3 movies, keep them for 7 days.

Well tbh the rental stores went out of business because no one used them. They weren't much cheaper than film price dvds anyway. A new DVD is 10 pound, rentals were like 8.

You can rent movies on PSN.

Anyway, the trade off for me is that anything 'newish' generally ends up in the Wal-Mart $5 bin pretty damn quickly, which, honestly, is probably cheaper than renting.

Older movies can be rented it's just the newer ones can't

There must be some law preventing the case I can't think of any other reason. All platforms pretty much have the same price scheme. I guess I could get cable to see if there on demand service is any better but renting would be so much easier

It just sucks because the amount of movies I want to watch and enjoy just once far outnumber the ones I want to buy
