I forgot how "mixed" the x3 soundtrack is

like, the composer clearly had Electric Guitars in mind and wrote a BUNCH of AWESOME RIFFs, more so than usual, but they don't translate to chiptune very well, which results in a bunch of droning, repetitive long notes

actually with that said, I really DO hate the opening theme

its everything I said in the other post, but with none of the redeeming qualities

its ESPECIALLY even more grating after you get a taste of Zero's theme

Kill enemies with Frost Shield for health energy capsules
Kill enemies with Acid Burst for weapon energy capsules

Usually a guaranteed drop rate that is really high for farming energy easily.

Also, getting energy in X2 is laughably easy if you know the secret spots so the drop rate from enemies is no issue really.

The thing about that is I haven't defeated any Robot Masters yet. I'm actually trying to fill up this one lone subtank that I have to help me beat one right now. So you're telling me I can't even fill it up until I start beating them? But I can't beat them if I can't fill it up either!

The fill up rooms in x2 don't come into play until you have the buster upgrade and silk shot anyways so it practically endgame

Don't worry I do as well. Mapping dash to R1 (or equivalent) helps a ton. I don't even understand how people play this game with default dash button.

Is there a way to remap the buttons in game?

I used the system settings to remap b to be, but it changes it at a system level, which is annoying.

each individual game has control change options but if you change it in one game it won't apply to the others

I map shoot to R and dash to L. Feels great having the three most important buttons controlled by different fingers.

Also I just played X4 for the first time, and damn, that was pretty incredible. Kinda shocked so many people say the series starts to decline after the SNES trilogy when 2 and 3 felt so weak in comparison to 1 and 4.

Volt Catfish has an easy heart piece where its sitting on a bunch of spikes

the hard part would be getting it without dying but who fucking cares

slash tiger has an and easy subtank and heart as well, the heart being above his door

the thing about this game is that I think I used to get by because of the AI RNG

its entirely possible they'll do the same non-damaging thing over and over and you can just murder them

if I tried Gravity Beetle enough times, I would win because of that more than me getting more skilled

I almost beat the crawfish fucker because his pattern was easy, then he changed out of nowhere and took half my life with one hit

okay thats ANOTHER thing, this game, they seem to hit MUCH harder, even the normal enemies

it feels nostalgic

I guess I've replayed MMX1 so many times that I forgot how it felt

I'm exploring all the stages, attempting the bosses, and if I find items, and if I find enough of them, they'll eventually help me beat one of them

and once I do, the game will truly start

BEAT MY FIRST ROBOT MASTER IN X3

Buffalo bob ....is an idiot apparently

if you have him against the wall, if you dash upwards (with your new handy, dandy leg upgrade) he will turn around and run into the wall behind him

you can charge your blast, shoot him, dash up, he hits the wall, and your shot should be charged by the time you hit the ground and you repeat

I initially dashed upwards anticipating his charge but then he started the backwards nonsense

me and my lil bro loved X1 and rented it all of the time. we would occasionally rent X2, only beat it twice, never found the armor upgrade, and every once in a blue moon X3 (we only beat it once, I remember discovering the Saber thing by accident and it blew our minds)

we never owned a PS1 so we only played X4 like twice, and they were rentals and years apart too since our only access to a PS1 would be our older bro, who we would be visiting for the summer almost yearly when we were younger. 2002 I bought a ps2 with my own money through my job, and despite me building a ps1 library, I never bothered with the X games for some reason, even going into ps2.

As I've said countless times in the target topic, I was initially just planning on buying the second half of this collection since Idefinitely never played those ones and it would be worth the price. Especially since I have x1-3 on my modded NES classic

but now I'm glad Target fucked up and I got the whole thing, this has been fun. I definitely don't have x4 in any shape and I'll be having fun with that too

though X3 has been a bit frustrating, thats the name of the game, man. Thats how we did it back then!

Yeah I've been playing this too and I just beat X4. I've played them all before but it's been a long time. The beginning parts of X3 were crazy hard compared to the other games. I think I played every stage 2 times before I actually managed to beat a boss.

Excited to try out 5-8 even though I know they're not going to be as good. I'd like to replay X4 immediately but I think I I'll give it some time.

The heart at the bee's level is located on top of the second mid boss's entrance

you need the boots to get up there tho

the Aquatic ride armor is at gravity beetle, you have to get the boots first

and the regular ride armor is at the wasp place, but you need the drill weapon

more stuff opens up if you at least have two of these things

gravity beetle and the seahorse both house chip capsules, but not the regular ones

if you have wheel gator's weapon, the legs are in Ostrich's stage

the legs let you get the arms upgrade back at Gator's stage (if you're not gud enuff to get them on your own)

and the body armor is at the moth's stage. use the helmet radar to find it, its in the first area. You also need the gator weapon to unearth it

I seem to recall that the robot masters you fight in the X series are all actual normal reploids like X and Zero, but they just chose to have a "theme" to go with their fighting styles

so essentially they're just dangerous furries

but I can't find any info on this at all

is this just a fan theory or is this supported some where?
