So now she has 10 to 15 tickets the guy keeps getting. They are all coming to her name and they lee treating they will go to collections. There is a bill of sale and record she sold the car to him, but the court said they can't do anything if he never switches to his name. They switch the tickets over but each new ticket will be her name.

What kind of shit is this? Seriously wtf. She registered she sold the car so what the fuck is the problem?

Bill of Sale should absolve you of any penalties incurred. Unless your wife never turned in the old plates.

She has a bill of sale and they are fine moving the tickets if she calls and tells the court. But this guy gets a couple of week.
We did not turn in the plates.

What you need to do is track down where they live, and take the plates back. More points if you just do it and not say anything.

Surely with the bill of sale they can register the car to him?

Too late now obviously, but whenever my dad would sell a car he would meet the buyer down at whatever government office and they'd get everything transferred before he handed over the keys.

They said no that unless he registered the car himself at the DMV, then theres nothing they can do. But with the bill of sale, they will transfer the tickets.

Take him to court if he keeps doing it.

No, there should definitely be some form the seller fills out that releases liability, claiming the car isn't yours anymore. I know, I did it when I sold my first car.

For a few months earlier this year I kept getting letters to pick up my car that has been impounded.

Then they sent a letter or two that the car was going to be auctioned off if I didn't come and get it.

Now they are sending letters for me to turn the tags in because they have expired, no insurance and some other shit.

Why would I have all that if they were the ones who auctioned it off ?

Besides I gave then the plates months prior and said that it wasn't my car anymore.

Stupid DMV.

Why would someone intentionally get tickets?

by parking wherever they want to and not caring about tickets because they go to this guys wife

But she just sends the bill down to the guy with her bill of sale, so technically he still has to pay.

you're assuming the bills are actually being sent to him

if he hasn't registered the car they don't know his address unless he's actually getting pulled over for something. they'll just return the tickets and rack up the late fees

Shouldn't the government have his address? They have the bill of sale, all they have to do is look him up.
