Supposedly they had Kevin Owens talk about how he could be screwed if Braun cashes in tonight like he said.

And then Braun never cashed in or made an attempt or anything. I don't know.

I want Owens to handcuff the briefcase to himself and Braun to cash in with like Owens limp body attached to it.

When Owens took the briefcase last night, I thought he was going to run off with it so Braun couldn't cash in on Brock later in the night. That would have made more sense than him running around and tossing it to the Singh brother at ringside. Braun chases Owens into the back and still gets counted out, and then there's no wondering why Braun didn't cash in when he said he was going to as soon as Brock showed up.

I figure by WWE logic, he physically needs the briefcase in order to cash in.

Yeah its been established by WWE logic that you need to present the briefcase (or more specifically the contract inside) to cash in.

Would be a slick move if someone took the contract out and had it in their pocket to seem less threatening to a Champ

Just waiting for a heel to cash in, lose and then say that wasn't the real contract in the case

If Braun has "cashed in" without the contract, technically WWE refs and administration have officially sanctioned a title match. It was just sanctioned without the proper credentials; Braun would be the title holder and, if he hasn't signed the contract that was in the briefcase, Owens would hold the contract which he could technically use. However, he could also be prosecuted for theft. Since the match WOULD be sanctioned, Braun could win, technically pulling one over on the WWE kayfabe hierarchy.

We saw precedence with Bryan v. Henry though that a seemingly valid cash-in can be annulled if circumstances later rule it to be invalidly produced.

But wouldn't Carmella's cash-in attempts suggest that a title match occurs once the case is given to the ref since said ref never opens the case to confirm the contract inside?

Its assumed to be in there for brevitys sake.

If it were later revealed to not be in there, the cash-in should be annulled once its discovered.

I realize that they didn't create one, but, theorhetically, if an individual claims a contract without the contract inside, it's accepted and the title is unsuccessfully defended in a title match... I feel like it's the fault of the company and therefore the individual who believes that they won the title would have a legitimate grievance even based on the contractual language that they still won the title?

Couldn't we get a storyline where Braun takes WWE to court because this hasn't been accounted for?

I mean, I know WWE logic and all that, but this is a really amusing conversation.

They could take them to court, and considering WWE managed to lose a case over their freaking name, they might win.

I think, objectively, the language of the contract should give them an out. Could the superstar win emotional damages due to official negligence? Yes. But not the title.

Then again, Big Show once got a title shot at Orton as a court settlement, which is my all time favorite stupid attempt to get a babyface over.
