as with many other aspects in life, the negative traits are often more important than the positive ones. Some great positive traits can help, but having a serious negative trait can completely ruin the whole package.

So yeah, the lack of any emotional baggage or mental issues is the most important thing, if the goal is a long term and stable relationship.

What kind of mental issues do you mean? Just acting crazy, or someone with like depression?

Me, I'm a sucker for a guy with a good sense of humor. Someone generally carefree or spontaneous, but obviously serious when appropriate and ambitious.

"Lack of chill" would be the best way to put it. Everybody has their own issues and problems from time to time, that's understandable. But then there's people that are super high strung, nervous, have an inferiority complex, or something else that causes them to be unreasonable and angry way more than necessary.

And again, everyone has their own unique expectations and needs in life, but to be excessively concerned with minor daily details and easily get upset and emotional over them is not a stable lifestyle. Bad things happen to all of us and we all make mistakes, but as long as someone didn't end up in jail or the hospital, it likely isn't that big of a deal.

Whenever I'm thinking practically about relationships I look for girls who are assertive enough to make the first move, which is basically non-existent once you're out of high school.

Ideally the right sense of humor is most important, but that seems almost impossibly rare in the girls who actually end up talking to me.

Also I think "opposites attract" is a load of shit for some people. I definitely want someone who is as similar to me as is un-creepily possible. I don't want an extraverted girl who doesn't care about deep concepts, or a sensitive girl who lives through emotions, or an uptight girl who can't just go with the flow and be spontaneous. Every time I break down what personality traits I want, it just comes back to being exactly mine.
