Found 3? There are way more. You have a serious problem.

https://www.epa.gov/bedbugs/do-it-yourself-bed-bug-control

This is the most help that I can give you, call an exterminator, too. This is going to be expensive and difficult.

Torn between two minds. Is either correct? Perhaps together.....but how? Can it be done?

It's best to call an exterminator asap. There are some things that you can do yourself that might work but this is something that you don't want to fuck around with.

Took me years and 2 beds to fully vanquish them from my house

Now I sleep like a king

But seriously, check your bed throughly. They will show up fast if you don't stop it quickly

Box and seal all of your stuff (while you can) and don't open them for like 18 months or something.
If there's any bedbugs inside your electronics or prized possessions, starving them of any food will kill them off (slowly)
Throw away your bed and bed frame, and once you do that get all of your clothes. Seal them in a bag and whenever you do the laundry just make sure to set the temperature to 90F for like 40 minutes. The heat and water will kill off the eggs in your clothing.

Without food baby bed bugs cannot reach sexual maturity.

They're not tribbles.

They hide in the seems of the mattress and under things like tables.

I had this issue last year and have been bug free for about 10 months.

The best advice is to quarantine every item in the room like clothing and bedding. Put it in big garbage bags and separate them from the rest of your stuff.

Once everything is aside you need to go get some supplies. A shop vac. A floor vac. Rubber gloves and a mask. And some bed bug spray and a healthy dose of diatomaceous earth. You can also get pump bottles of bug killer that is like round up. It lasts a long time and kills on contact. And of course bed bug mattress covers.

It's time to find the nest. What you want to look for is something that looks like rice. They put these in hard to reach places like under a table or in your box spring or on bed rails. Check every room of the house. Once you find it or even if you did not find it, you need to clean everything. Vacuum all the carpets and beds mattresses and box springs. Top to bottom.

once this is done put down your diatomaceous earth as directed. Especially against walls and around bed legs. You can also get glue traps to place around the house that work well to catch bed bugs on the carpet and even spider and centipedes. I recommend them as well.

Repeat this step with your car. It would be a shame to clean everything only to get reinfected from your car. You can also treat your car with some extra help from the sun. On a hot day crank the heat up and close the windows and let it bake the interior. Bed bugs cant take the heat.

Once you are set and all you spray and earth is laid down, it is laundry time. For best results go to a laundry mat.and use the huge washers and dryers. Wash and dry them on the hottest setting for best results. Dont be afraid to give them a second go around if you feel unsafe. When you are done put everything in fresh bags and take it home.

Put fresh white fitted sheets on your bed. Make sure the bed is away from the walls.
This is important to look out for future attacks from bugs. The clear signs are small black specks on the sheets or in the corners of the sheets. If you see this, bugs are likely.

More to come

For the first few weeks and maybe months do a nightly bug check. Check everyone's mattress and sheets for signs of the bugs. The black specks of flood and feces. The remainders of shells. Or the bugs itself.

What I did was come equipped with

A flash light. Comes in handy checking under thing and getting a good picture of the object in question.

A can of bed bug spray. If you get a live one, they can be fast. The spray kills them almost instantly.

A dust buster or shopvac st the ready to dispose of any bug bodies or eggs you may find.

New glue traps. Part of the routine is to check you glue traps if you got some and put jew ones down if needed.

Also be familiar with what the bites look like. They typically look like large red bumps. Often 3 or more in a row. They are very itchy, and if you shower you will feel them. They feel different from mosquito bites and stay on your body longer. They tend to bite on parts of your body that are pushing down into the bed. So the sides of your arms and legs are very likely targets.

Have everyone in the house check for bugs and bites daily. Dont be lazy.make sure you dont leave clothes laying on the floor. Dont let your blankets drape on the floor. Even drapes and curtains can get them. I know from experience. Check everything and it can save you time and money in the long run.

If all else fails and your attempts to home game it dont work, call a pro. Terminex or orkin are the big names in the game. But its not cheap. A chemical spraying can easily be 2k and a heat treatment can be double that.

Even if you get the pros to do it, dont get caught slacking. Continue to do bug checks and be vigilant.

I hope this helped. If you have any question feel free to ask or PM me.

You know the thing about bed bugs.
You're more likely to encounter them if you "go out" a lot.
Whether it's the movies or a cafe, maybe a motel...
Those places can easily be infested with bed bugs and it only takes a few of them to be on you to start an infestation at your home.
