what sucks about rallies is that they're impossible to predict pre-contest.

there definitely will be at least one or two but it'll be so hard to predict them thanks to reddit and tumblr

like MAYBE Sans and Tracer get rallied, MAYBE Draven or some Fortnite goober get rallied, maybe ALL of them. maybe they'll all get knocked out cuz reddit and tumblr don't care on that day

so basically you have to guess who is going to get rallied vs actually analyzing a match based on prior stats and other data; rallies become the determining factor in the entire contest and someone will probably just get lucky and win the whole thing cuz they came closest to guessing the combination of characters that will get rallied

then you have to basically throw all the stats from a rallied contest out the window because nobody is at true strength from round-to-round. remember how Chie was in the top 5 last character battle cuz she came close to Draven in R1 but then he won the whole contest?

it just kind of sucks, I don't really care about "winning" a character battle but it's nice to see debated matches actually happen versus good characters all getting knocked out early in favor of some bad in-joke

Well its still preferable over boredom! Id gladly take them all out over almost the same finals/final 4-8 all the time. There arent any interesting matches with them unless you want to see how much further 7 has fallen I guess

Gonna do a quick overview of the NN:

Link: Still probably very strong thanks to BotW, but may be prone to antivotes. Even w/o UT rally in 2015, OoT probably would have lost.

Mario: Probably better than he was last time, with modern Mario being much better received atm.

Samus: RoS and MP4 means she's just as strong as ever hopefully.

Cloud: The FF7R delay hurts, but staying in Smash Ult might help.

Sephiroth: Unlike Cloud, Seph does not have the benefit of being in Smash. Possibly the weakest NN?

Crono: Eh... low vote totals could help, but I still think he has fight.

Snake: I doubt the Konami affects Snake himself; returning in Smash Ult will probably makes him #2.

Sonic: While Mania is well received, Sonic hate still lingers in a lot of people due to poor modern games. He'll need purely Classic artwork.

Mega Man: With MM11 and SSBU, should be good.

Or better yet, make the poll itself visible everywhere till you vote.

The weakest NNer is definitely either Sephiroth or Crono. Sonic and MM probably took a hit as well. Cloud we know took a hit. Snake and Samus are the hardest ones to predict.
