While it does seem the translation made that vid look way worse than it actually was, some of the things they do say doesn't sound all that nice lol. Like they tell him to go back home while laughing, though now that I'm reading this, it might mean go back home during vacation rather than staying there just to spend his parent's money going to maid cafes.

And the whole complaint from the comedians about him tracking dirt into his tatami, that's totally understandable and ignorant on Davido's part. Americans don't really have a good sense on this in general. How can you track dirt in a place where you live? I think another point was that the tatami mats are meant to be sat on but the comedians basically couldn't sit anywhere due to how dirty it was.

But uhh... yeah lol the blatant mistranslation in that video is pretty disgusting on 2nd view

While they definitely joke at David's expense plenty of times in the video, it should be noted that the hosts of Japanese shows like this do it all the time. It's part of the country's sense of humor. For example, the part where they criticize him for not wearing slippers is the kind of humor you'd hear in nearly every episode.

But yes, the subtitles are often exaggerated and occasionally flat out wrong.

Japanese Guy: Oikutsu desuka, Davido? (He asks first "How old are you David?" but he uses a phrase only that you say to small children, which he did on purpous, insult him.)

Davido-kun: Hai (Davido-kun doesn't even understand what he says to him, he just stands there, staring like a fucking pig and just shits out whatever was on his mind, in this case it was "yes".)

Japanese Guy: Oikutsu wo nen de wa? (He again asks "How old are you?" but this time he butchers up the grammar and makes it super simple to understand, he's basically speaking like you do to a little kid and he insulted im yet again but with x2 more effect because he talked like you do to small children plus he used a phrase you only say to children.)

Davido-kun: stands there staring in to his face like he didn't say anything at all (this time he litreally don't even know what to do so he just stands there, he knows he can't squeeze out another "yes" because he already did that previously so this time he decides to awkwardly just stand there and say nothing)

Japanese Guy: How old are you? (He says, I mean this Japanese dude took the time out of his life to speak in English. I mean , it wen't so fucking far he HAD to ask him in english. I mean its so fucking cringeworthy that I'm almost dying!)

Davido-kun: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, watashiha nijuuichi (First he does some wierd gesture with his head and then he finally gets what they were asking him, how fucking old he was. But it doesn't end there, because this fucking guy even answers WRONG in Japanese, I mean seriously? can this go any further? what he was supposed to say was "watashiha nijuuissai" that is how you say "I'm 21 years old", I mean this Davdio-kun is such a cringeworthy person.)

For the record, that's not what he says.

He repeats "oikutsu" and then uses a different word ("nenrei") to ask the same question in a different way. He's trying to find the expression that a foreign Japanese learner would understand while leaning towards simpler expressions as a general rule.

It's the same reason that he pauses when he begins with "doko no..." to ask where he's from. He was about to say "shusshin," which is the word someone would typically use to ask where someone was from. But he thought that word might be beyond David's understanding (which it probably would've been), and so he changed it to "kuni ha doko desu ka?"

None of that was meant as an insult to him.
