First of all, I want to mention that I almost never eat hamburgers and fast food in general.
Second of all, I must also clarify the fact that over here, we only have a FEW of the big American fast-food chains. More exactly : McDonalds (we say "MacDo"), Burger King (they aren't at every corner like McDo, fewer of them), KFC, and a very few Five Guys.

All the others like White Castle, In & Out, Taco Bell, Jack in the Box, Wendy's, and whatever other I don't even know, DO NOT exist over here.

Now, from my (very seldom) experience, Burger King isn't TOO bad, McDonalds is meh, KFC is absolutely disgusting (fried FAT BREADING around the chicken is horrible), and Five Guys is the better one but too expensive for what s*** food should be.

I also reckon that the recipes and products used are very different here in France compared to the US, since we have very strict regulations in terms of food, the origin of the meat, vegetables, potatoes, etc.

Some American friends once ate at McDonalds here and were all like "OMG THIS IS SOOOO GOOOOD HERE etc" I was a bit reluctant, since it doesn't taste THAT good to me, but maybe it's due to being used to it ?

Do you think a given fast food chain or a given hamburger can taste better in another country than in its country of origin ?

And no, burgers aren't made with baguettes.

The weird thing about McDs in other countries is that they have it in a semi formal environment and they generally sell more interesting items.

But don't you have the health promotion campaigns and heart diseases prevention thingies over there ? Here they're everywhere, they don't even really salt your fries anymore, you have to either request it (BK's fries are un-salted by default for example) or they will give you little paper thingies with salt in it, like they do with sauces.

Haha, I probably ate there SO MANY years ago, in a very old trip to the US (been there in the meantime but never went to Wendy's), so I can't remember.

And yes here all places that sell food sell beers.

Anyways, my pick for best fast food burger would be Culvers... but I cant really call them the best chain because outside their custard & burgers, their food is kinda mediocre. I guess my pick for best chain overall would probably be Potbelly, Chick-Fil-A or Popeyes.
