i've never seen a problem with them. i don't get why so many people loathe the prius when almost every other compact car ended up emulating the prius a few years after it came out in terms of styling and hybrid mechanics. i recall in the mid-late 2000s it was getting a lot of hate from people because of the style, design and implication of caring about the environment or something. i still hear men (and sometimes women) espousing their hate with a level of passion that fails to make sense to me.

so would you? why or why not?

As long as it gets me from point a to point b I will drive anything. Literally anything. Doesn't matter if it's blue, orange, pink, red, purple, paint peeling, 2 door, 4 door, automatic windows, manual windows, radio, no radio, 2 seater, 4 seater, 10 seater, American, Japanese, Korean, Indian, Mexican. All I need is a working vehicle.

Its nothing against the car itself, but I would be triggered to the maximum level if I had to drive a car that size again. I like large hatchbacks. My Subaru is like halfway between a car and an suv.

Because it makes neither financial nor environmental sense.

If it's money you want to save, then buy a Corolla which will get 30+ MPGs on average and starts at $5000 lower. Take that 5 grand and gas up your car for the next 5-7 years depending on price of gas per gallon. You'd have to be driving the Prius for that long to break even.

It makes little environmental sense because of the not-so-environmentally friendly battery pack which helps power the thing. If you cared that much about the environment, then ride a bicycle or even use public transportation.

On a more personal note, a Prius as a car is about as interesting as a refrigerator.
