you can look at Round 2 with Cathedral vs. Dark Cave for an idea. no guarantees that the possible outcomes are the same because they are different locations but it's a similar concept of risk-reward.

you can't use these items outside of battle (see description).

you can change your actions until the deadline/lock-in point when everyone has submitted two actions. since the results will be posted at the end at the same time.

they're all listed together since they have the same effect but they're 3 separate items at 4000 each.

you buy the ones your characters can use. e.g. if you have FF characters, buy Phoenix Down.

The description makes it sound like you use them before the battle and the character/Pokemon then has +100 for that battle.

it's a different kind yeah since they work differently. Fights against bosses are just determined by rolls.

I knew that, hence why I had to comment. My only strategery was with where I placed Tear, to make sure I got the bonus. Everything else was random because there was no reason for it not to be.

[BOSS] battles are a different format than battles previously. [BOSS] battles will simply be a "roll" / RNG check depending on the percentage of victory.

So if you use a Magic Lens for your party and it reveals 10% victory and you still choose to fight, there will be a check where 10% will be victory. There are no other steps so items like Potions can not be used since there is no value to add 100 to. In battles like in Round 3 where there are starting integer values, using an item will add to that.

Specifically about the [Reaper] using the previous scan as an example:

The victory percentage came out to 5.3%. Because of the Persona Character condition, 1% gets added.

So if CPU sees the scan and still decides to [FIGHT], there will be a check where 6% (rounded down, .5 and over gets rounded up) will be victory and 94% will be defeat.

A condition of this [BOSS] fight is that Death Clause is active. This means that if you decide to fight and RNG turns out a loss, the party members you went into the fight WILL die. This means that for the rest of the game you will be without those characters/pokemon and obviously will be severely disadvantaged.

HOWEVER if you have a revival item (Phoenix Down/Revival Bead/Life Bottle) and you use it when you [FIGHT] a boss where Death Clause is active, the character you use it on will NOT DIE if you lose, hence "protect one character against death for a battle." Characters who have not had a Revival item used on them prior to a battle where Death Clause is active will still die.

....The more I think about it, using Minato in a battle where the Death Clause is active willingly feels like it's just begging for history to repeat itself. ...Stupid question, but you can hold onto items just in case, and don't have to use them immediately, correct?

yes. although obviously if you are fighting a boss where Death Clause is active it is advised to use a revival item prior.

starting out, the sum of all party member levels was 4480 for character first pickers and 4500 for Pokemon first pickers. everyone's sums are where they are at right now from battle results, choices and good old chance.

I mean across the board pretty much all the people who have 2 losses are the ones who have the lowest Character levels while their Pokemon levels are a bit higher. Round 1 having the free 50 points for picking a Character first, and this past round Characters had no sort of strategy element to them so you were just assed out of points if you decided to prep your Pokemon more.

Obviously Round 2 was 100% the player decided who to focus on, and like you said good ol chance plays a fairly heavy role, so it's all good, it's just the way this game happened to turn out with being created. Thus getting the shorter end of the stick! It's not anything horrible though, just how it is.

yeah i don't mind. it is very much a work in progress. i'm trying out a couple new things at a time to see how they're received and how they work out.

this honestly was a spur of the moment thing and has turned out more expansive than i initially imagined when i set the "two losses = elimination" rule. i'm only sticking with it because i already said it at the beginning and don't want to go back on it and it's at least easy to see an endpoint.

yeah i think the thing to note is that by including it, i was suggesting the possibility of future rounds where Pokemon strength (higher base stats) did come into play. of course if it was in a head to head battle there has to be a chance of the reverse to be fair.

i mean i originally knew i had to include it because of memes but yeah it was on my mind of how to implement it. it probably won't happen at this time. maybe a side optional location.

oh and don't think i'm not aware that all of the location names are super generic lol

ideally they would be location names pulled from various games in the series, and maybe even with their own specific twists, but that's kind of a lot to plan out at the moment.
