I mean what are you drinking now?

Prefer it iced or hot?

Cold Brew?

Etc.

I bought a $200 machine and honestly, while its been great, it wasn't this massive leap forward I was expecting in flavor/taste. I brew from the beans now, too.

Hot.

I drink Maxwell house coffee out of the most generic coffee pot you can imagine.

I'm thinking about getting like a Ninja. The ones that have the froth thing on the side of it. The reason I want one is because my friend got one and she made.me a.cup and it was the bomb.

And that was using Folgers and some generic dollar store creamer.

But see idk if I want to commit to keeping milk in my fridge. I never drink milk and would just use it for morning coffee.. but it's so fucking expensive.

Well I don't know where you went wrong because my friends machine was around that price and the coffee she made me was great

imo the beans are more important than the coffee machine. get some good quality beans and a burr grinder, you're good to go

I work at Bed Bath and Beyond, the Ninja one sells great. Nice to have the frother on the side, plus I love the strong brew setting. But yeah, the beans are way more important than the machine.

I may try this out since there's been three people saying the beans are important.

Where do I even go to get high quality coffee beans? I'm guessing this isn't something sold at Wal Mart?

it is, probably, it's not like you have to buy some hipster shit. any whole bean that isn't starbucks dark roast (burned to shit) is pretty solid. community coffee is a fine example of a bean, and costco has a few different decent varieties.

main point is to grind it the day you brew it, rather than buying pre-ground stuff.

my brother used to buy coffee online from here and it was very good:

really, i cannot over express how much better grinding your own beans is over buying grounds in one of those big cans.

make sure that specifically you get a burr grinder, there is also a blade grinder but it won't grind the beans as evenly, finely, or consistently as a burr grinder will.

Grocery store should have them. Usually the spot where you dispense them yourself. Definitely get a decent grinder. I know we have a cuisinart that you can choose how coarse you want them. And always grind it right before you brew it. That way it'll be most fresh

I may have gotten used to it. I haven't had instant coffee or crap coffee since then, so I likely haven't noticed how spoiled I've been lately.

When I first got it, it was great, and it very much still is - I'm just used to it now.

French press is both easier and allows for better cleaning. It also provides a fuller taste, imo, if you are using decent coffee beans.
