Their end goal is to be recognized as their identified gender after all, and thus they're not even going to be considered "gay" after transitioning. :v

The rest of the us just want the freedom to love who they want. Trans people want to literally change how society perceives them. And honestly, I think trans people are taxing the rest of the gay community nowadays. They're giving the rest of us bad press because we have to take part of the blame whenever one of those trans athletes beats all the biological women in a competition and the heteros start going on about "oh, what's the world coming too!!!"

Not saying we should abadon the trans people, but maybe we could just change our status to "allies" instead. :v That way they could have their own trans movement and gay people could do their own thing instead. We'll keep the drag queens though, since they're not technically trans.

I'll admit that I've always been a bit confused about transexuals. I thought for a long time it was just an extreme case of a feminine guy or a masculine woman trying to be the opposite sex. At this point I have no problems with that, and while I think the attitudes towards gay men, women, and trans individuals are not exactly the same, I much prefer they support each other rather than having pedophiles lumped in with us.

I was referring to your second paragraph

I'm just being realistic about it. It isn't a good look for trans people to become athletes and singlehandedly trounce a group of biological women at a sport. It alienates people, and as minorities that is the last thing we want.

like, why are trans people doing this shit? stop it! let the biological women win some trophies! the public isn't going to look fondly on trans people robbing America's sweetheart of a title because she lost to someone built like a tank. Use your head people.

I'm a Terf and it makes sense to me that these groups feel bogged down by trans rights. MTF trans people didn't spend their entire life being treated as a woman. Even more than what you feel you are I think gender is how society treats you. They just go their whole lives being looked at as a man, and then suddenly they think they have any idea of what it's like to grow up female when they didn't. They have their own trans experience I can't relate to and cis women have theirs. When they try to take over feminist discussion as if we owe them our space it bothers me.

yea, but that was before you guys had all the fancy gender reassignment stuff they have now. Back then trans people and gay people had a lot more in common since they had to live their lives the same way basically. Nowadays trans people can live their lives almost completely like their identified sex.

This doesn't apply to trans people who also happen to be gay though. :o Like a trans girl who dates girls who a trans man who dates men.

Our struggles are not different. Acceptance is the goal, and calling out bigotry is important too. Stop invalidating people just because their life experiences are somewhat different.

I say this as a trans woman who's had to deal with both homophobia and transphobia growing up. Both phobias are equally disgusting.

This topic is dumb, because each of the letters is different from each other anyways. There will always be differences. What you are really saying with this topic is that you don't like T and don't want others to connect you with it. That is actually quite similar to the struggle that T has, so maybe you have more in common with it than you think, because T just doesn't want to be associated with their original gender either.

This topic's view is ultimately simplistic, there are still huge overlaps in the problems. As a trans woman, I still face a stupid number of people that view any relationship as a gay one. See any overlap yet? There really isn't much of a winning to it. Also don't get treated like a guy either so in the end it just makes convinces me that the real problem is that people just have no real chill or idea what the heck to do with those that don't fit into convenient boxes.

In end the point of the letters forming together was to help each other to rise to awareness and light instead of being shoved into closets and alleyways. It is okay that each letter is different. It is okay to be different. It is even okay to not understand things. It is the irrational fears we need to fight against, that give rise to the anchor for pointless hatred.
