Earn 40k/year. After taxes it's like 31,000ish. This is for just myself btw

- 685 for rent
- 350 student loans
- 100 for utilities
- 50 for internet
- 250 for groceries
- 70 for gas
- 10 for laundry
- random expenses (supplies, tools, gear, clothes) ~80-100
car payments are taken care of by my dad who owns a dealership
and I have a cheap phone which doesn't really cost anything

That leaves me with about 985-$1000 saved every month. Maybe closer to 900 if I need to buy shit for my job or I splurge on eating out or something.

I would take 10-20% of what you save each month and start investing or donating. This way you can get more of a net return without doing much (more work initially but more payoff long term) or potentially save on taxes

I don't know much about the latter but stocks and real estate are the best financial decisions I've made

I don't really know anything about investing. Something to look into I suppose. What kinds of things are good/save to invest in specifically?

Youre so lucky your rent is so low and you have no car loan.

I know. I feel like that would kill me.

How much does a typical person save per month when they only make as much as I do? Or god forbid less?

Like $500 or less?
