The correct answer was to watch all four in any order you preferred. Parks is the most emotionally satisfying of the four by far but it lacks the one-off gimmick episodes that make Community so unique. 30 Rock has the most manic pace for rapid-fire humor and AD might be the cleverest in terms of layered references and in-jokes, as well as the most consistent in quality.

If you don't like Community, you're in the minority.

Personally I don't like it as much as those other three shows, but I can still objectively say that most people love it.

I should have clarified that I "finished" Community. 5 and 6 were really bad and I didn't watch 4. I hated basically everything past 3. Ass Crack Bandit and especially Meow Meow Beanz were real lame too, so weird for those two to get pointed out. And seasons 2 and 3 were in fact real damn good, but I thought the show started weak fir half of season 1 which means it's got, like....almost a perfect 50/50 split of good to bad episodes.

I'm fully aware that Parks could fall apart, but so far every episode past season 1 has been good.

I think a big contention for me is that basically any episode that got more unrealistic than paintball I hated. When Community got too surreal, excluding the dice rolling episode, I wasn't into it. Every animated episode was painful to watch, too

That's good, at least.

The value of the "weird" Community episodes is that it allows the show to explore aspects of characters you don't normally explore on shows. An episode where you can just say, "Hey, Annie is the villain" is big jump from "Annie is just naive and jealous of people who didn't fuck up their own lives", but it somehow fits perfectly into the series and allows me as a viewer to think of these characters as if the genre choice is a prism to look at their motivations differently.

At least, that's how I always felt about them. Mileage may vary of course. I never could finish Breaking Bad, and I recognize it's very well-loved. Just not for me.

I find it's way easier to pitch "Best Film Ever" to people with positive results than "Best Show Ever". I always try to undersell shows.

Speaking of, Arrested Development. Watched 1 season, perfectly decent, but nothing even resembling an attachment to a single character and no desire to continue.
