I'm kind of amazed I beat that game as a kid. I used Kongol who is apparently the worst character and never went past the first basic attack because I couldn't manage to do the QTE.

When I played it as a kid I remember being blown away that Meru was so fucking stupidly fast. I found out years later that she's considered top tier and was like "Yeah speed is busted" lol.

its not just her speed that makes her busted
her final addition has the highest damage multiplier so while her attack stat is low her final addition will let her deal as much damage as dart but since she gets 3 turns to his 1 its like dealing 3 times the damage.

and her magic stat is the second highest in the game which affects the amount of damage those thrown magic items do so when shana or meru use them they deal insanely high amounts of damage

the tier list goes meru > shana > haschel > albert > dart > rose > kongol

rose is actually the best party member on disk 1. but about halfway through disk 2 she starts falling behind everyone else and she just gets weaker and weaker in comparison

she gets a weapon just before the final boss that gives her a much needed boost to her attack but by then its to late to really take that into consideration

Yeah, I remember that last addition being strong as shit and not too hard to use. I also remember REALLY hating that Dart is forced into your party at all times. lol PS1 era RPG syndrome. Dart isn't bad, it's just that the potential to be so much more ridiculously efficient is cockblocked by his existence.

My old party was always Dart, Meru, Hashcel. Meru cuz she was useful, fast and cute, and Haschel because he was cool as fuck...And because I sucked at Alberts additions for some reason. I sucked at Darts too, which also contributed to me hating Dart.

I also remember always being sad that Rose got the crutch character syndrome and gradually just got worse and worse. :/

i picked meru because my favorite color was blue
and i picked kongol because my second favorite color was yellow

its annoying that you need to get kongols dragoon spirit right on disk 2 and its optional so if you miss it then you cant get his dragoon until the very final dungeon
