I was very much into street fighter 2 in all of its variants, the alpha series and sf III too.

They were very different games, but they had the same principles.

- strong attack is strong but slow
- medium attack is medium all around
- weak attack is weak but much faster

This added a strategy element: if youre right next to someone else and he tried to use fierce and you use weak you WILL win.

Say you are playing with Ryu and you just knocked down someone. If you crouch and literally mash on the weak kick button you can even get a 3 hit combo if they dont block.

SFV is weird. I have seen people use a slow attack and somehow beat others to the punch even thought theyre mashing weak attack as fast as they can and theyre in range.

Does SF5 have an artificial preferred attack or attack priority system?

For example any noob could hit Ryu with a STANDING slow punch even if theyre standing up and Ryu is doing the low kick thing I just mentioned

I merely mentioned the possibility, to illustrate the change in mechanics, I am not recommending it as a tactic.
