Problem is I love my carbs, half the meals I know how to cook involve pasta >_>

I would never recommend any diet that focuses solely on cutting carbs. You will have no energy to exercise. You can totally cut weight by eating a different diet, but sugar and salt are the two ingredients that give much better results from avoiding.

I'm not strength training, all I do for direct exercise is running every other day right now. I would love if I could drop like 30lbs.

It's not just carbs, it's more like shifting the focus from sugar and carbs to fatty foods for energy.

I'm a little guy that has never had a weight problem and I lost 9 lbs over a one month period of strict keto.

My diet was everything but bread, pasta, and beer.

Nah, it's not that I love pasta, it's that I'm only just learning to cook and I know like 4 recipes total >_>

why are you overweight in the first place?

doing keto for a one time weight loss and then a plan to change your habits into something healthier than your current diet could be a good plan. If you want to do keto and then go back to how you eat today you will gain all the weight back.

Dont listen to the haters. Keto is fine.

You dont need carbs for energy, that's the point

I don't think it's very sustainable or healthy. It's essentially a crash diet.

keto is a fad diet that's turned into a cult for fat people

if you actually want to get healthy then learn some basics about nutrition and fitness, it's not hard

If all you do is run, then why do keto? Not having any carbs seems like it would really hurt a good run imo

Just use a run tracking app to estimate how many calories you burn, and then get on myfitnesspal and make sure you don't eat over your limit.

If you put yourself at a good deficit, you could easily lose 2lbs per week.

Basically, to burn fat ("ketosis" or w/e) you need to stop taking in other forms of energy (gluten and sugar) because the body will burn those before it burns the fat. So you cut out gluten (ex. bread and pasta) and sugar (including fruit).

So you can still eat meat, have salads (but watch the dressing), eggs, whatever, as long as its low on carbs and sugar.

I think saying that 'it's not hard' is a bit disingenuous. It is a lot of hard work if you are struggling with your weight already. That being said, it's sustainable and will get easier, whereas fads like Keto are dangerous and will only result in you rubber banding back to what you were before when you inevitably can't maintain it.

The more overweight you are the easier it is to lose weight actually.

The problem is that people waste their time with fad diets like keto that don't do anything which has a demoralizing effect.

I'm just saying, realistically, saying "it's not hard" helps literally no one. Realistically, it does take effort to stay in shape. If it didn't, people wouldn't ever be out of shape. People need to look at these sorts of things realistically and expect realistic results if they want to improve their lives at all.

Again, I'm not disagreeing with you, but exercise and self restraint are not easy for everyone, so people shouldn't just walk in thinking, "Oh, I'm going to start walking five minutes a day and eating broccoli and I'll lose 100 lbs in a week!".
