topic title is the question

I have, just once, on the phone with Comcast. Was trying to get an issue resolved that I'd had to call about 4 times previously and been told by numerous people it was fixed, but it never was. They did not escalate it to a manager.

I remember doing it years ago in a shop when returning an item and at first they were offering store credit. Got my money back.

Yeah, once with my ISP on a 2 week long ongoing intermittent issue. Tech did not show up nor left any notes on system indicating any work he had done but tagged my appointment closed. Had a pair of different techs come out same day.

This except the opposite. It was a Samsung galaxy s7 edge that I won at job. I did not want it to get refunded back to the credit card. I wanted store credit. Manager couldn't do anything.

Well, with tech call centers you almost HAVE TO ask to speak to someone higher up. The base level people when you call customer support are operating off of a script. They tend to lack any technical knowledge. Furthermore, attempting to circumvent the script can 'short circuit' some of the base level people. A number of large companies put the entire script online on their websites as well, hoping people will 'help themselves' first and foremost.

For the dozens of people at the base level there's usually one actual engineer on hand for escalation who can solve most issues in a matter of moments. It's getting to speak to them in the first place that is the ordeal. :P

For retail/restaurants though, no. I just never go back. If a large sum of money is involved you can always fall back on the tried and true 'make a scene loud enough and long enough and management will usually give you whatever you want just to go away' method, but that should be a last resort. Of course if you've ever worked retail you know that method is a first resort and a common resort for some people. -_-

similar to this.

Had an engineer no show yet claim the work was completed.

They called out someone else who (the poor guy) drive like 200 miles only to say he was missing the parts

I have a couple times at restaurants when they fucked up our food. I know it's not the server's fault, and I can't go yell at the kitchen personally, so you kind of have to talk to a manager.

Only a couple of times I have asked to speak to a manager and every time I have, I actually got to. A majority of the time it is at a restaurant if meat comes out and it is rare or raw because I normally order medium well.

Ha....every time I've had to speak to a manager at a restaurant, it's been for the exact opposite reason. My wife or I ordered a medium rare steak/burger and the meat came out greyer than an elephant's ass.

yes. i had to remedy some final huds (before trid/cd) and an escrow company did not give 2 shits about correcting some things for me. it was one company in particular. i had to escalate it to their manager, who also didn't care, and then to the vice president of their company for them to finally listen.

More times than I could even count. It doesnt mean that youre going to be rude, but you may just need to speak to somebody who is able to make decisions that a non-manager cannot make.

Just once when a bank was being absolutely zero help when I was trying to settle my dads estate.

Wasn't rude, just tired of going in circles, yes I know I don't have his account number, that's why I'm here with every letter I can find indicating he had an account here, a death certificate and letters of administration showing I'm the nominated executor.

Yes. I remember it like it was just yesterday.

Me and the wifey went to celebrate our anniversary at Melting Pot (a fondue restaurant). Despite having reservations it took them 30 minutes to seat us. Then another 15 minutes for a waiter to come by and take our drinks and for us to order our beginning course. The waiter then proceeded to drop one of the bowls containing hot, thick cheese on our table and it got all over my girl - staining her dress.

At that point we demanded to speak to the manager and flat out told the waiter you're not serving us anymore. The manager came over and acknowledged his waiter was "having a bad day" and he would be taking care of us personally. He brought us champagne and comped the ENTIRE MEAL including dessert. Everything came out lightning fast. We felt bad at the end because it was a nice night but only after the manager stepped in. I gave him a $50 tip on the way out. But we never went back to *that* Melting Pot again.

Yes, a pizza place that I never returned to even though he offered me a free pizza.

I only tried the place twice, but both times, I got very bad attitude from the people when I was there. Second time was much worse as the guy started arguing with me that I ordered a meatball pizza when I ordered Pepperoni. I would never order a meatball pizza because I don't like meatball pizza. I'm very picky when it comes to meatballs, and when I make them with my spaghetti gravy, I get fresh meat from a local butcher place.

I would never, in a million years, eat pizza shop meatballs. Anyway, this dude just wouldn't let me get the final word in. Nope. I ordered a meatball pizza. They finally agreed to make the pizza I wanted, and afterwards I called them and spoke to a manager and he supposedly told the guy to never do that again.

I never went back. I know the next pizza would have spit tbh
