I need something reliable that I can write with, run basic programs, and that might be able to run editing software. Bonus if I can play jrpgs on it and some games off steam.

My budget is around 300-500, really don't need anything special but can I get the above at that budget?

i'd look into the acer aspire line of laptops, they are pretty good bang for your buck. acer's quality has gone up in recent years. wont be able to do much gaming on it outside of indies & old stuff tho, but that's kind of it at that price point.

Don't care about weight, but something sturdy would be nice. My refurbished chrome book crapped out but chrome os sucks anyway.

I just want to play older jrpgs and like... undertale

Asus and Samsung are pretty good laptop brands, imo. At least those are the ones I've used

Check Costco. If youre not a member, find a friend who is. They provide extended coverage.

I agree with Acer. Not a fan of Samsung or Asus.
