"Creating jobs isnt a thing to be praised. Creating well-paying jobs is. Billion-dollar corporations like Walmart and McDonalds dont create healthy economies. They create mass poverty. Anyone can create a job. Ill pay you $1 an hour to clean my house, do lawn care and general maintenance Monday through Friday for eight hours a day. There, I created a job. Have I contributed anything to society? No. Have I boosted the economy? No. All Ive done is put one person in poverty.

...

The truth is if minimum wage went up, skilled wages would go up too. How? Lets say you are an EMT working for $15.00 an hour and the minimum wage goes up. Now everyone working in retail and fast food is making the same as you. Pretty insulting, right? Wrong. Thats what corporations want you to think so you will fight to keep other poor people down. If the minimum wage rose to $15, you could get a job anywhere for the same pay. That would give you leverage to negotiate a higher wage by saying, essentially, There is now an abundance of jobs paying what I make. I can leave and take one of those jobs unless you pay me more for my added skills. Your skills are now worth more. Instead of $15, you may get $20, but youll never get the $20 if you keep fighting to keep others down. Lifting others lifts you up too."

You should add another edit to explain what the difference is between "Rich white people" and all the other rich people, since the author feels the need to make that distinction.

I might argue that depending on the situation, that 8 hours spent working that day is better spent looking for a job that is, say, economically informed about the status quo rather than making 8 bucks lol. You can't be serious. You're just going to keep digging and digging yourself into this hole that you've clung to since you were an ignorant child, latching onto the first thing you thought of or were told. Learn to change your mind with new information. Your incredible stubbornness is showing.

Usually if I am wrong about something my ego does take hold and I think of a reason for how I can be right even if I am mostly wrong, but I will give people the win if their argument makes more sense. However, even when my imagination wanders to find ways in which my argument is still reasonable, it is MUCH, MUCH more reasonable than you're being. Ffs, get real. $1? Either way, the point of the story is that a well-paying job is better than a $1/hr job. Are you going to argue that $2 is not better than $1 or something now? Lol

I just think that we inevitably will drift really close to full blown socialism, but probably won't let the government control anything. Amazon, Apple, Google, etc...what's to stop these huge companies from just bleeding into other things and taking over it all? So long as the government has health regulations and makes them pay their share then I guess it's okay. At least there will always be an opportunity for someone to be creative and come up with something that could stand a chance for a while, but maybe they'll just be bought out. Idk. The idea of capitalism to me seems like it may just die out.

People have suggested other means of making money like new economies based on social favors and things. I can imagine future economies in virtual worlds based largely around novelty and creativity. Imagine making money for making maps in a VR video game. Idk...something like that...who knows where it's going. I just don't see anyone being able to make a new business unless it's truly innovative.

What you're describing is a Corporatocracy which is the de-facto government of most sci-fi dystopias.

Money doesn't come from nowhere. If everyone down the line got a wage increase, the inflation would be ridiculous. $5/hour a person is a LOT of money to suddenly have to provide to everyone.

The author seems to understand economics and markets functionally well, but wants to stick a thumb on the scale anyway, without realizing all that does is drive inflation.
