Hell yeah, split the right vote! The only reason Conservatism holds any clout up here is because the Left is split between the Liberals and the NDP, this would be the death knell for Conservatives if he gains any traction.

One thing that's cool about other countries is the ease with which they just start new parties, owing to the lack of America's restrictive ballot access rules.

Oh yeah the US 2 party system is so horrible. So glad we have more choice up here. Still wish we had something more proportional than FPTP crap.

I was going to vote for Trudeau again, but I can definitely see myself voting for Bernier.

Might still have to vote Trudeau though, Singh must be kept out at all costs.

The NDP under Singh are floundering right now so no risk of that right now. He's not THAT bad, but has been a disappointment. Still beats CONs. >_>

Don't forget paying millions of dollars to a convicted terrorist (who is living freely, I might add).

I still have to bang my head on the wall to make sure I'm not imagining that that happened.

Even convicted criminals have rights that need to be upheld. Otherwise they aren't rights.

https://rangevoting.org/

We need every Democratic system to have Proportional Representation per seat.

And the Voters can split their voting power allocation of 100 points amongst any number of candidates on the list as they see fit.

Ergo each Seat that has 1.0 voting power can be split amongst any number of candidates per party who runs for said seat.

Their voting power is equivalent to total amount of vote power divided by total possible.

Ergo their voting power is #.###/1.0 with 1.0 voting power being maximum but unlikely.

Ergo say Seat A could have 0.25 Democrat, 0.25 Republican, 0.1 Green, 0.1 Libertarian, 0.1 Blue Party, 0.1 Purple Party, 0.1 Gray Party.

All would go to Congress with their respective voting powers representing their Party and the constituents in that area who gave them said voting powers.

If you want to recall a candidate, it doesn't take very many people to recall since it's usually a small number.

As far as paying for the Salary / Benefits of each Representative, you can change the rule so that the Seat's Salary per seat is unchanged, but split proportionally amongst all candidates who run for said seat.

The difference would have to be made up from the Lobbying Funds / Political Parties coffers.

Ergo draining vast amounts of money from the Financial War Chests of Politicians everywhere just to keep them in office with a State mandated level of Pay.

This would offset "Citizens United" since it's unlikely that we'll ever get that over turned.

If we can't Over-Turn it, we can make it INCREDIBLY expensive to lobby / bribe a politician by requiring the funding levels to be higher, and for return on investment per politician to be crappier.

'Convicted'. He confessed in order to get the hell out of illegal US detention. He was paid because Canada was complicit in violating his rights.

They had a chance last election and were more or less reasonable. 2 things sunk them. Ironically, vowing not to run deficits. And Quebec going off the deep end over head coverings. Weird part is the Libs held the same position but weren't punished.

Stop. He's not a terrorist. Even if he wanted to keep him in jail, he'd end up wasting even more money to lose in court again.

With the Trump administration self destructing rn having a firm, rational leader in charge of Canada is critical. As such I'm really glad that Bernier essentially handed Trudeau the reins of power for another half of a decade. Sorry Russian trolls, looks like all that work you did was for nothing trapinch

Russia wanted the Conservatives?

Singh seems like he's at least a decent person, but Canada isn't progressive enough to elect a Middle-Eastern man PM.

I mean, there is that element to it. But he has plenty of other issues too.
