Pit is probably my #1 since Brawl. I also like Fox and Captain Falcon a lot (though Falcon was pretty bad in Brawl iirc). Greninja was good. Mario was really good in 4 too.

I've liked Falcon less with each release at it feels like they're sapping his power away to give it to Ganondorf

Mine is probably just Marth at this point. Not too exciting

I thought he was really good in 4. He got some of the KO power he had lost in Brawl back. It's Fox who I can't really get behind anymore after being my main in Melee.

Ah, I didn't play 4 more than a few matches at a friends house so that's good to hear.

I would have to say my biggest impediment to smash success is I can't ever pin down a main. Pit is the closest I have gotten and I tend to do better with him than anyone else but no one ever feels 100% like "this is my guy" like Fox did in Melee. And of course that was the most boring pick possible but he was so good.

That's pretty much how I am in any game. Once I'm good enough that using the character is second nature and I win a good amount, it's not fun anymore. Learning characters and seeing improvement is where it's at.

In Brawl I mailed Meta Knight but always had more fun with Ike and then I felt like they were both crap in 4. I'm hopeful that with the speed increase Ike will be more tolerable in Ultimate. But I'm sure Marth will remain firmly in the elite tier as always so I won't be hopeless. Also I hear that Zelda is awesome in this one because of the speed increase but I *hate* what they did to her design. Why did Sakurai feel like he couldn't use BotW Zelda, and if he truly couldn't, why did he have to change her at all? TP Zelda from Brawl is the coolest design anyway, just bring her back! Now she doesn't look like she belongs with her Zelda cohorts

But I also plan to main Richter because he completely owns

I don't mess around with heavy fighters too much but I liked Ike in 4. Bowser wasn't too bad either.

I think I'll bring back pokemon trainer when the new one comes out

Btw @MNTwins1991 is my partner in any 2v2 Pokemon battles too

Well good thing I just added @SkynyrdRocker then. Though getting @MNTwins1991 on your side for Pokemon is an even greater coup than getting me for Smash.

Also I'm legit excited that trainer is back and that you can be a girl trainer now. I still wish they would make a character for Blue though

I bet they're gonna be really good as long as they have decent KO power. The smash attack reach is definitely insane. The up smash in particular looks like wtf crazy

It was incredible (and very authentic). I ate hella breadsticks.

At the end when the waitress brought out our boxes for leftovers, she surprised me by saying the went ahead and upgraded my order to BOGO (it was only $0.20 cents more), so I took home an entire extra pasta entree, which is great because I haven't been to the grocery store in a while.

oh and fun fact about honeycrisp apples: it was developed at my alma mater

Octopath Traveler update: I have 6/8 characters. I realized I hadn't learned any skills since the tutorial on learning one so I did that and now my guys are way stronger.

62% of GameFAQs visitors thing video games are too expensive Gamers are a bunch of spoiled whiners.

The weird thing though is that these results are basically the same in every iteration of the poll. I wish there was a poll from like 2005 or 2006, that's the sweet spot where you didn't have ridiculous DLC/microtransactions, but (I think) right before the standard went up to $60.

My favorites are the guys who say I only got 15 hours! This wasn't worth 60 bucks!!!

I wonder if people are voting off the base price or the total lifetime cost of the game? The poll isn't really worded that clearly. Because you gotta be insane to think that just the initial price tag is too much now.

I see people complain a lot about predatory practices and it seems like there's some validity to those claims, but on the other hand, I've pretty much avoided any game like that and found no shortage of good stuff to play. I guess it sucks if it happens to a series that meant a lot to you but people act like it's infecting the whole industry which is ridiculous

Also if you decide you'll never spend more than $30 on a game you have literally hundreds of options still, and new cheap stuff comes out every week. Which is to say nothing of how cheap games get after a year or so as long as they're not popular multiplayer games (though that can still happen esp with steam) or Nintendo exclusives

Regarding the playing time aspect, does that scale in the opposite direction too? If you think no $60 game should be less than 50 hours long, does that mean that Square Enix could justifiably charge $120 for Dragon Quest XI because people are taking 100 hours to beat it? Does God of Wars price tag go up since they added a new game+???? No one is asking these questions!!!

I don't even understand why people still want to play a game that's like 50 hours, given how many options there are now. If a game does happen to be that long (or longer) and I can actually enjoy it all that time, great, but given a choice I'd prefer something shorter so I can move on to the next experience.

I feel like people argue this stuff as if full-price retail games are still the only thing that matter. I'm sure they know other games exist and probably even buy them, but they act like only the major stuff is what "defines" the industry. That's an outdated mentality.
