The director's cut of Aliens however is significantly better than the theatrical cut and adds A LOT. The theatrical cut is still very good, but the director's cut is even better.

Most of the stuff it adds isn't of particular value, such as the news that Ripley had a daughter who grew up and died while she was still sleeping -- something ostentatiously meant as a character motivation for protecting Newt

The sentry gun scene in the hallway was freaking awesome. Also, the scene with Bill Paxton saying, "State of the badass art. Me and my team of ultimate badasses will protect you." is worth it by itself.

Jaws is up there.
But who hasn't watched Jaws?

tbh, the movie hasn't really aged well.

I just rewatched all the Jaws movies a few months ago. Jaws still holds up well.

I used to like Jaws 2, but I found that it hasn't held up that well.

Jaws 3 and 4 were never really good, and my opinion hasn't changed. Jaws 4 is probably one of the worst movies ever made (and it even has a 0% on rottentomatoes).

Alien 3 also has a director's cut that is significantly better than the theatrical cut. Although Alien 3 is nowhere as good as Alien and Aliens in any form. I still enjoy Alien 3 for what it is, but a lot of people don't like it.

Alien 3 captures the feel of Alien a lot more than Aliens, though.

Suspiria

Suspiria is a great film. If we're going with foreign titles, I also loved Demoni.

I felt the same way about A Cure For Wellness. Why does every modern horror movie have to end with some creepy pasta-esque ending these days?

Still need to see that, but the spoilers made it sound delightfully goofy. Absolutely love the title, though.

the thing 1982

genuinely frightening, well-written, takes itself seriously, and the actors are actually good.

alien is also amazing. aliens is really good but not really horror, more action with horror thrown in.

It Follows was really good.

Yeah, aside from all the classics already mentioned, this is my favorite recent horror movie.

Id say Jaws is much more of a thriller movie than a horror flick. As a kid, I was scared shitless of any real horror movies, but I loved Jaws. Was fascinated by the shark. And Id disagree about it aging poorly, I just watched it within the last month and thought it does just fine today.

I felt led astray by the trailers. It suffers a lot from a dense as fuck protagonist, but knowing what I know now, I'd probably watch it again. That one grew on me slightly.

I watched evil dead 2 again today. Just so happened to be on stars. So fucking great. All of the special effects are so amazing. So well thought out and practical. And for what he does, Bruce Campbell is easily one of the greatest actors ever. Very few people could do what he did in that movie.

In Evil Dead 2, his reaction to the hand getting caught in the mouse trap is one of the funniest 2 seconds in movies for me.

I had massive hype going into Trick 'r Treat -- given that I'd waited due to delay after delay, during which it got bumped twice for theatrical releases then finally was released VOD or something -- and was fairly disappointed. The overlap between stories was neat, but the chronology kinda sucked and Sam felt straight-up shoehorned into the school bus segment.

To each his own, I guess. I liked pretty much everything about it. It's also one that I feel got better on repeated viewings.

Murder Party just randomly showed up on NFI. It has a great concept, but mostly boring execution.
