We're not ready.

Nearly 1.3 million people die in road crashes each year, on average 3,287 deaths a day. An additional 20-50 million are injured or disabled. More than half of all road traffic deaths occur among young adults ages 15-44...

Now factor in when flying cars break down in the sky. We now have to worry about where to fucking crash while avoiding other cars in the air, buildings, and fucking pedestrians on the way down.

If you survived that and got away scottfree, then you still have to have a budget for more payments.

- Flying car insurance rates would be astronomically high
- You'd need to upkeep at least TWO licences (grounded and flying automobiles) and I'd imagine the latter would be much stricter for renewals.

Let's stick to helis and planes for now (which, by the are flying vehicles in themselves, so technically we are in the future).

The FAA controls all the regulatory functions when it comes to flight.

To get your pilots license isn't a trivial thing.

So don't expect it to be easy.

Don't be so sure, there's a lot of things older generations didn't think they'd in their lifetimes that happened. Technology has moved so fast in the past 30 years it's hard to rule it out. I don't think it'll happen in the next 10 years but we could see it sooner than you think.

Flying Cars, are just light sport aircraft that have a compromised design to drive on the road.

It's a crappy car, and a half assed Light Sport Aircraft.

You're getting the worst of both worlds in this compromise since you have to design the structure to accommodate flying & driving along with the Aerodynamics associated with it.

If you have enough money to buy a small aircraft & the expensive pilots license to go with it, wait for the Rutan Ski-Gull.
