My friends say I should try a wig first, so I looked for some wigs, but they all look pretty bad, at least the ones I found in light blue (which I guess are mainly used for Rick halloween costumes).

Light blue is my favorite color and i usually make my characters have light blue hair. I would love to have it in real life. I did some research online, watched some videos etc, and man, it does not look easy at all, especially for a guy, cause girls are used to using products on their hair etc. I have pretty much always used Shampoo and conditioner (generally strawberry flavored...er...scented...I don't actually taste it) and that is it.

My wife used to get her hair dyed red all the time, and I know it was expensive, and usually took 3-4 hours. I could even try and find the girl that used to do her hair, we spent a ton of time chatting with her. She would be sad to hear Linda passed away if she is still working there). Anyway, if she was still around I could ask her, but honestly I don't know who to ask about it. None of my friends (even the female ones) have dyed their hair, so other then the advice to try a wig, that was all I got.

Anyone dye their hair regularly? Especially any guys? The vids/tutorials etc list some horror stories about bleaching your hair, and it never going flat again, chemical burns on your neck, color going away in a week or 2 if you swim in a pool etc. Seriously it's enough to make you just throw up your hands and give up.

Came here to say this, try the spray out for a day, see how you like it, then dye it. It's exactly what I did when I dyed my hair blue.

Yeah, i'm not sure how it'll look either, but, I have a plan now:)

First step of the plan is to go to this Wig place tomorrow a few blocks away. I don't know if they have a light blue wig, but....I can at least try wearing a wig and see if I hate it, then get a light blue one if I don't.

Easiest solution since I can then just have blue hair when I want it:)

If that doesn't work, or I don't like wigs, I will try the spray on color thing. It looks messy though and i don't wanna look like a smurf (blue face!!) also I usually have always hated hair spray (or things with oils in them for that matter), but at least I can wash it out if I hate it.

There is a place across the street from where I live that does hair actually gonna walk in there and talk to them (always wanted to say "Hi" anyway).

And nah, not a mid, or post mid-life crisis, I have always wanted light blue hair but due to work etc, wasn't really an option (although I guess my students might have liked it lol).

I do not know how it would look on me though, that is the big thing. Love light blue hair, and think it looks awesome on other people, but.....yeah, not sure how it'll look on me. That is what wigs are for!!:)

I look silly with it, I tried a wig on today sigh. Doesn't look good on me. Growl.

I love light blue, and would love to have hair that color, but yeah, nope. Sigh.

Also, wig places need to have more stuff for guys seriously.

Freaking had to try a girl wig on then hold the hair up so I could see what a guy wig would look like on me, but.....it doesn't matter, looks silly.

Do it anyway! It doesn't matter if it looks good on you or not, If you want blue hair go for it! I got my hair dyed a greenish blue once by a professional but let the color fade out cuz I was just too lazy to keep up with it :P It was pretty when I had it tho.

I don't think I would even wear a wig, i'll check for other places with actual male wigs that are light blue, and see, i would certainly do that first before dyeing it though.

Might look better if it was a real wig for a guy and I wasn't holding it up etc. Thinking it probably won't though, but I could at least do a halloween outfit or something in a few months.

Maybe start with something a bit understated before moving on to wild colors, like frosted tips?

I'd suggest going to a professional for the hair lightening treatment for sure, but actually dying it blue is pretty dang easy with Manic Panic and a little time. It takes me 15 minutes to apply my color and I let it sit for as long as I have time for. Do that once a month. After a couple weeks it has faded to a different softer blue. Blue is a hard color for hair to hold

If you have the cash and patience you will get better results doing it all at a salon. But it will be way more pricy and you'll have to use them for your upkeep.

My hair has always been blond, but it's more of a dirty blond now...not really sure when it started getting darker, it happened over time and I didn't really notice.

Yeah, I saw how my wife's hair turned out, and I can see it being worth spending the extra money to have a professional do it. Her hair was dark/black and she had it changed to a darkish red, but I don't think she ever had it bleached (I don't remember them bleaching it).

I can't do that with my hair though, I think it's too dark now for a light blue to work. I am going to look around for a light blue wig (not from online) there has to be somewhere nearby with one I can try. They really should just have an app for this stuff or a program where you upload a picture and then try on different hair colors etc.

Some people just get a streak or two put in, you could try that as well. Get the rest lightened, then have just a little bit of blue put in.

Gonna hit a fitness center tomorrow then a casino with a friend, but....I will probably go to a saloon nearby on Friday and see what they suggest. There is a place near me which says it colors hair for $36...so.......I could try that and see if I like it, it's pretty cheap. I'll certainly talk about it first before doing it and see if they have pics of other people they have done.

I could always go with a darker red as well. I prefer light blue, but...my hair may be too dark now without bleaching, and I don't think i wanna bleach it. I dark red though, would be kinda cool:)
