I don't believe in the paranormal nor in religion.

I've always wondered, if you don't believe in religion then what do you believe that ghosts are? And if you can imagine the idea of a ghost, is it that difficult to imagine the idea of souls?

I'm not trying to be facetious, I'm just curious because I've always wondered about that in my head.

I think the whole concept and labeling of things as paranormal is dumb

There are just things that we understand and things that we arent able to explain. There are plenty of things that used to be considered paranormal but now we have an understanding of what they actually are

I mean, you don't have to be religious to not believe in physicalism, I've witnessed something, that I would say is a ghost, but I still believe in any scientifically proven truths such as evolution

I'm an atheist, I do not believe in ghosts. I do, however, believe in angels and demons...but in the sense that they are multi/extra-dimensional "beings" and we just call them angels/demons.

Beings is a strong word, but I don't know how else to describe it. I don't believe they possess any sort of intelligence and mostly act on some sort of instinct. More like a force of nature than any kind of entity.

Lmao, yeah I know it's out there but that's what I believe. Similarly I believe that the idea of a god is just our brains' way of interpreting the fact that everything is connected at the quantum level.

As for the ghost thing...believing in ghosts implies the belief in a soul...and I don't believe souls are a thing. We're just meat and electrochemical signals.

Depends on your belief in the nature of ghosts, really. The residual energy and after-image arguments don't really factor in the idea of a soul. Sentient, self-aware ghosts (ones that are *actually* the deceased rather than another entity taking on their form) would probably require a soul-like object. Ghost mythos is pretty vast and absurdly varied, given all of the theories floating around. And just about any time somebody smokes a joint, a new fringe theory appears.

At any rate, it's kind of weird that you'd have leeway for angels/demons yet you don't do the same for ghosts, which are based on alleged observations (and interpretations thereof).

Kinda doubtful, but whatever. I suspect that at some point life might exist elsewhere -- either before or after us -- but I don't put much stock in concurrent existence (or, at least, the guarantee of such)

I literally said it is what I believe, so it's my own personal belief. Why would I need a citation for a personal belief?

No. We would be aliens to any being from another planet. The term "alien" is therefore relative.

Yeah, it's not like humans are the only lifeform on Earth. There are millions of lifeforms on Earth, ranging from birds to fish to cows to dogs to insects.

If we found the equivalent of a cow or dog on another planet, then that would be alien life. Heck, even an amoeba found on another planet would be alien life.

Real aliens don't necessarily need to be like the stuff you see in Star Wars and Star Trek. I think many people just think of sci-fi stuff like that when they think of aliens, and that's why they can't imagine alien life actually existing.

Paranormal beings? Nah. Religion? Hell narp.
