yea, most of human history, women got married off in their teens. if a girl wasn't married by the time she was 25 she was considered a Spinster Old Maid. and then sometimes her family gave up on her and made her become a nun

actually that's the rule in the original Medieval Total War I think. you have Princess units that can be used as diplomats but you can also "spend" a princess ONE TIME ONLY to marry them and strengthen alliances with a general. but if you don't use her up in a marriage by the time she hits 25, her unit disappears off the map anyway and you get a message that she became a nun

I can see that. By 40 to 50, most men can have easily become multi millionaires and be in good shape if they try.

I feel a small sense of pity for guys who think women peak at 18.

If I read it correctly, this is based on a study related to online dating for straight people. Regarding the women and men who were considered most desirable. That is, the ones who got the most messages and the ones who got the most responses when they sent a message.

On average, women peaked at 18 and gradually diminished from there. Men peaked at 50. Though the most desirable women was an outlier at age 30.

They also found white men and Asian women were considered the most desirable demographics. And black women were least desirable of all demographics.

The man is the breadwinner in the relationship. What a woman brings to the relationship is her youth. The problem is youthfulness is a diminishing resource. Women need to get married as soon as possible so when they're no longer desirable and get divorced, they'll still have the man's assets to live on and won't have to be a wrinkled old bag lady.

Obvious story is obvious.

Because men and women prioritize at 2 different things when it comes to relationships. Men tend to be more superficial when it comes to looks while woman are more superficial when it comes to money/security. Younger woman on average tend to look better and more desirable than older woman and older men on average make more money than younger men.

But honestly, the article is using online dating as a source which is totally stupid because online dating apps only push the superficial side when it comes to finding relationships more than looking for people in real life.

A womans value is her youth and fertility, her sexual market place value is highest 18-25.

Mens value is their resources, and utility, he earns more the older he gets and this peaks at 50.

Young women and older men are a perfect match because they both give the other what they want. A young man is often poor and still climbing the ladder to wealth and power, an old woman is pretty much just aged milk.

I don't think it says they peak physically. It says that is where they peak for desirability for women. That just means women prioritize things other than youth and physical appearance more highly when they message and respond to men. And because women peak at 18, it would suggest men prioritize their youth and physical appearance more highly.

Men value women for youth and beauty. Women value men for being able to provide and security.

A girl gets out of high school at age 18 and she is the most beautiful and valued she will ever be, nearly all men want her at that moment and it gets worse for her every year. She can get any guy, get bought gifts, travel the world, offered easy well paying jobs etc. Celebrities will ruin their marriages trying to sleep with these young girls.

Now look at a man at age 18, he is worthless, his only value to the world is in what he can do and he ain't done shit yet, all the hot early 20 something year olds aint gonna give him the time of day because they want to live it up with the men who actually has a bank account.

Why do you think men invent and accomplish 99.9% of everything humans invent and accomplish, because our strongest biological drive is for sex and reproduction and literally the more successful you are as a man the more access you have to more women and more beautiful women. Men are driven to do great things basically to get laid. Women however gain nothing from accomplishing anything. I have never known a man including myself close friends or family to find a woman more attractive because she has a good career lol, most guys could not give less of a fuck about a girls career.

This is why sooo many women ruin there lives spending there best years age 18 to 32 trying to climb the corporate ladder when it won't get them anything. A career will never reward women in the way it rewards men because women peak by being young and beautiful, men peak by accomplishing great things and getting money and power.

Both the article and the science are shaky at best.

First, the study assumes the dating market somehow reflects a human 'peak'. Second, it assumes that the entire dating market is perfectly reflected by free dating apps only, completely ignoring the fact that there might be economic factors at play, or that internet dating might not be the principle way people date.

Second, the article is classic 'I don't understand the entirety of the study so I'm going to sum it up awkwardly in a clickbait title". I went to school for Journalism and, honestly, that is something that is sorely lacking when it comes to education. They really could use a course in how to interpret data and make it presentable without relying on clickbait titles and trying to push shaky interpretations.
