Last night I slept in my car. How long does this typically take?

A few days to a week. It sounds like your current situation might drive you to take up the first available thing, but I would 100% make sure that you physically see the unit you'd be renting. I get it, you need a place, but don't trade away 3 days of good research for an entire year of having to live in a crappy place.

In addition to that, most apartments will ask for your current address. Do you have any friends that would let you use their address?

I actually already worked it out with a co-worker, we're going to share an apartment in January.

I'm just going to walk back in my mom's house and pay her $300 rent, as a "please stop being mad at me for pirating a video game and getting you legal threats directly from Nintendo" fee.

I think I smell bad from all my sweating. My phone actually overheated sitting in my car.

You can't make this up.

I hope your situation works out for January, man. Always have a back-up to a back-up.

What exactly happened, if you don't mind me asking. I think I have the gist of it, but...

I pirated a Nintendo switch game, Nintendo contacted my isp, we got a fourth strike which involves a lot of tough talk about lawsuits, and they had her on the phone scaring her.

She was angry and drunk and yelled at me for a couple hours straight so I got in my car and drove to a parking lot to sleep in.

They actually shut off our internet. What was fishy was the torrent Nintendo was tracking.

Surprising, companies know going after the small-fry is pointless and that it is way more effective to go after the larger distributors.

Not really. I know plenty of people here in the states, including myself that have had their internet shut off for torrenting. Ive had it done multiple times so I finally just said screw it and stopped but another buddy has to change their ISP.

I don't what side you're arguing for or against here, but anyone seeding torrents for games would be considered a larger distributor, comparatively speaking.

"so I hear you're talkin to me about these internet crimes? You mean this microsoft excel shit? man i don't know what the fuck is goin on with that, i don't have any of these nintendo switch super mario odysee consoles, last time i played nintendo was bout 40 years ago with my little brother and i haven't been into that shit since man, you know what i mean? you're telling me someone broke into my house and used my computer to commit internet crimes? man maybe if i was a hacker, id hack hillary's emails myself, you know what i mean? they found some messed up shit in there, child trafficking rings and shit like that."

No, I don't know that a torrent packet transmitted from me to one of Nintendo's bugged torrents had my ip address embedded in it despite using a VPN that was supposed to encrypt all my data, and I don't know that ISPs can identify torrenting traffic easily regardless of any proxy you use.

You do have other options if you have any money saved or income.

Try Air B n B, most areas have some very cheap options, especially if you want to stay for more then a week. You can usually find somewhere for about $20 a night, and they often have places that are cheaper in large cities (but you usually end up sleeping in bunk beds in shared rooms etc).

This can work for short term though till you can move in with a friend etc.

Also, check rooms for rent. Craigslist will have a good selection in your area. You might even find some extremely cheap that require you to do shopping or yard work etc.

Many homes that rent rooms also offer a discount if one of the tenants is willing to do the cleaning, yard work etc, so you can find a place that is normally $400 a month, but get $100 knocked off if you clean the place once a week and mow the yard etc.

If you do end up stuck in your car there are options there as well. Join a planet fitness if there is one near you. They have showers, and TVs you can watch, and many are open 24 hours. Sleeping in your car at night shouldn't get too hot. Then look around for a cheap storage unit, you can get 5x10 ones for $50 many places still. Store your clothes etc in there and BAM for $60 a month you have a place to store your crap, a shower etc, TV to watch at will, and a car to drive around and look for a job etc in.

Always options:)

No you claim that you had people visiting or that your router is not password protected.
