Total supposed? Do you mean supported?

The book isn't even out yet. I know Woodward has released the document referred to in the story as the termination of a trade deal with South Korea that Cohn allegedly stole from Trump's desk (and thereby "saved" the deal.)

I mean, I did.

But I like reading about political stuff so his involvement in Watergate meant he was known to me. (And he's involved in a lot more later. Watergate was the start of his career.)

I think it's a little weird, I guess. He really is one of the biggest names in journalism over the last century IMO. His and Bernstein's work on Watergate alone elevated him to that status. Like, I'm sure if you polled the average person walking the street I wouldn't expect them to know but then I have a low opinion of people! Within the context of posters in a politics topic, yeah I would. If not for his earlier accomplishments then if only for this book. As mentioned, it was the biggest story in the early part of the week. Trump was tweeting and talking about it, I've seen it referenced a lot on late night shows, etc.

I wasn't being snarky with you before when I gave a quick background on him, for the record, just providing you that info.

Well, you have to understand a normal conservative does not care about all the nonsense. They know about about the regular. I do not know who he is. I will read the quotes when they come out. What I gathered is Trump is out of control and Pence is loving it???? Unsure on that, but I will read me on it. I can only comment on what I know. I can't just blindly do whatever.

There is only one answer to this.

"Who are you, that do not know your history?"

He's one of the two guys who blew the lid on Watergate. He is maybe the most respected US journalist, period. His pedigree is so far beyond question that it's on other people to prove anything he reports isn't factual, and not him (but he has the proof anyway). If he says it's true, odds are 99.9% that it is.

Strong disagree if you mean to imply Woodward is part of "the nonsense."

Not knowing him would be more the fault of education (the system in general for not teaching it, not a personal attack on people) IMO. In no way was he or his work "nonsense." It was some of the most important journalism done in the history of the country.

Oops.

Frost/Nixon strikes again!

You may have looked into it when you ran into that, but Frost was a British journalist who conducted some TV interviews with Nixon a few years after Nixon resigned. Nixon's team thought they could use the interviews to do some PR rehabilitation because they felt they could outwit Frost.

they did not

(Nixon made it worse for himself)

It's, among other things, the source of, "Well, when the President does it, that means that it is not illegal."

I've seen a lot of people complaining that Jones being kicked off of Twitter is an attack on right wing media outlets and free speech and etc etc etc.

And either these people literally have never watched Alex Jones before, or the right wing of American politics is much further gone than I ever anticipated. Like if you view Alex Jones as "right wing" and not "insane rambling conspiracy theorist" I don't know what that says about your party.

LMAO Andrew Johnson was an AWFUL politician. Not even just because he was super duper moderate on punishing the South, but just because he was so completely ineffective.

If youre a fan of Reconstruction the people who ACTUALLY implemented it were the Congressional Republicans of that era, Charles Sumner (the very same Sumner who was beaten within an inch of his life for speaking out against slavery prior to the civil war) along with Thaddeus Stevens are the people you should actually be impressed with alongside Generals Grant and Sheridan.

Their plan was the one you think of when you think of Reconstruction. Johnson opposed their plans and much of Reconstruction was passed over Johnson's veto.

And any federal grand jury could indict Kavanaugh if it chose. They are permitted to use their own knowledge to decide to investigate, then issue subpoenas to get evidence, and then vote to indict. In practice, that never happens, so Jeff Sessions would have to decide to prosecute.
