1) Does the main character guy stay with it that dumbass costume, or does he get a better one later?

2) Do the flashbacks slow down? I'm liking the show so far, but this is making Naruto look like it barely has any flashbacks. It's starting to get irritating.

1. You mean the one first one designed by his mom, with the floppy ears? Yeah, he gets a significantly better one down the line. And he's still making adjustments to it here and there in the manga, so it keeps on changing subtly.

2. The first two seasons are mainly for setting the different up character's backgrounds and motivations so there's a lot of backstory they need to get through. They cut down on them significantly after each character is built up properly, but there are still parts where they have to focus more on the villain, so they have no choice but to do flashbacks to flesh out their history.

They're flashing back to scenes and flashbacks that they showed earlier in the episodes though. That's not fleshing out the back story, it's just padding and filler.

Oh, then that's in the manga too sorta. Deku is supposedly really good at analyzing his opponents and coming up strategies and tactics based on what he's seen them do. It's the author's way of showing just what Deku is good at doing.

There's some chapters where they dedicate a couple of pages with the character's inner dialogue and how they're thinking through the situation. Not the best way of doing it if you're trying to make an action scene flow smoothly, admittedly, but IMO it's better than having these students suddenly come up with the perfect countermeasure to whatever they're facing out of their ass, and show that they're actually learning.

Add on top of that the standard, "this is what happened in the last episode" recap, and it does feel like there are a lot more flashbacks and internal dialogues than usual.

Concerning his bunny hood, in the current anime opening he wears the hood for 1 second and in the manga, another character forces the hood on him to shut him up but it is played for laughs.

This should be safe for when you get halfway through season 2, very light spoilers

the whole point of the hood is because he wanted to copy All might, now he is doing his own thing and not copying All Might, he will probably never wear it again. It was symbolic for that.

Just because it's in the manga doesn't make it good, or a smart decision.

It treats the audience like they're an idiot who can't remember what happened a few episodes back. Or that they can't just sort of figure out what's going on from context clues.

He keeps that one, but hardly ever wears it (or at least leaves the mask down most of the time).

I don't remember that many flashbacks in the manga, other than a sprinkling of one-panel flashes when a character is reminded of aomething important.

Yeah, I don't remember too many flashbacks in the manga either. Anime, especially shounen, tends to add extra stuff in for padding.

Where I am in the manga he still has the costume, but he's only ever worn it like three or four times.
