What's your take on Nike making Colin Kaepernick the face of their "Just Do It' 30th anniversary campaign.

I'll say this, CK is not in the NFL because he's a bad QB because there's a lot of bad QBs in the NFL and some of them are starters. I also think CK's banishment from the NFL has nothing to do with football at all.

and yes, i agree his banishment is largely not his playing. People have crunched the numbers and based on stats alone he was better than some starting QBs last year. Not an amazing QB, but good enough to be a starter somewhere in the league

Kinda like that football player who beat up that woman in that elevator, right? And if you're going with spokespeople for non-athletic reasons, you might as well go with non-athletes who did something meaningful. (While Colin *is* a non-athlete now because he chose not to get involved with the few teams actually interested in him, he's done nothing meaningful.)

That's some serious cultural appropriation.

No, not like ray rice.

CK actually seems dedicated to his cause and so far has donated a bunch of money towards it as well as sparking national conversation.

CK isnt some hall of fame or all star level QB but yeah people are only riffing this hard on his performance are just doing so because they are annoyed with him being in the spotlight. They can look up his stats just like anybody else and realize he was an above avg QB, certainly better than some starters in the league. But ultimately its meaningless because his game performance doesnt have much to do with how he has sparked national conversation about the topic.

He could have been an actual backup QB, and a shitty one(like Landry Jones on my team, comes in when Ben is hurt and shits all over the field) and remarks about his playing performance would still be stupid.

I wouldn't go that far. Yea, it has more to do with him kneeling then it does with his performance. However, when you look at what was happening he was being used less and less before the whole fiasco started. The only reason he was seeing success early on was because he had an unconventional style of QBing that coaches in the NFL hadn't dealt with before. Once they cracked that nut, he wasn't very useful. People forget he is basically in the same league as Tim Tebow, and we know what happened there.

It isn't that he was a bad QB, it was that he was a one-trick-pony QB that was ineffective once people figured out how to shut him down. Teams will take a QB that is effective some of the time over one who will never be effective again.

No he isn't a top tier QB but he's better than a lot of the current starters in the League!
