Lowering their prices and actually having what you want in stock. Amazon is horrible for certain toys, but great with others.

tbf Amazon is better. This. Toys R Us only sold kid toys. Amazon sells adult AND kid toys. Speaking of which, how come adult toys are always things you shove up your butt and not, like, a big ol' racecar or something? --- There sure are a lot of different mes just like you have a lot of different yous! Toys R Us was doing fine, the problem was that it was acquired with a leveraged buyout, putting tons of debt on the books that they couldn't possibly overcome. You can thank Bain Capital for that.

The leverage buyout was the main reason but even without that, their horrible prices compared to Amazon was already their funeral.

Every industry needs to adapt. It sucks to say goodbye to so many stores, but technology has made may brick-and-mortar businesses obsolete. If they refuse to incorporate the internet into their business model, it's not our responsibility to swear off new technology so that you can maintain the same business model you have been employing for the past few decades. That doesn't mean I think Amazon should have the monopoly, but it's not the consumers responsibility to make it a fair fight by buying against their own self interest in order to give outdated stores who don't want to change a fair fight.
