Something about quizzes versus tests make them harder even if the questions are not as difficult in nature especially since they are multiple choice, same with tests. Sometimes the wording of the question or answers trip me up.

They typically are the hardest parts of the test, and sometimes when there are like 4 multiple choice questions, I'll get two wrong and feel like a schmuck. I guess since they are typically just recall the facts type of questions they are a little challenging. The actual questions asking you to work out something, those, while they take more time and effort and a lot more knowledge goes into doing them, they are overall the sections I'll do better on. Guess the processes are a lot more easier to remember than the facts about what various things are.

multiple choice questions are really dumb tbh because there's nothing preventing you from guessing the right answer even if you don't know it, and more often than not they're designed to trick you into picking a similar but not 100% correct answer

whereas written answers and problems where you have to show your work demonstrate your level of understanding of the question being asked depending on how well you answer it. this is also usually accompanied by partial credit if you show that you somewhat understand the concept in the question but not the full answer

so yeet

I had trouble reading that post, and I'm not sure what you mean by either thing you have trouble with. Tests are harder than quizzes? What's the difference between a test and a quiz? And it's harder even tho the questions are easier? Gotta explain that one. And I understand you have trouble with multiple choice questions, tho idk why. Seems like it'd be easier to choose the best answer rather than having to come up with the answer yourself.

I think it'd help if you said what class this is for. Sounds like math, cuz you said to work out an answer for a question. But idk.

Multiple-choice sections are fine; it's the essay sections that really ruin everything for me.

I suppose maybe exams would be more understandable rather than tests. Quizzes are those short things with a few problems, typically going over a small section like one chapter vs. a test/exam that are longer with many more problems, typically going over larger sections like a unit made up of multiple chapters, or even the whole semester of topics.

Typically quizzes are supposed to be easier than exams, made up of entirely multiple choice questions; whereas exams (in Accounting) are made up of word-problems mainly with perhaps a few multiple choice questions sprinkled in.

For me, multiple choice tends to be a little harder since they want you to recall very specific details about a particular piece of information, and as Reis stated, have 2 or sometimes 3 answers that are similar and can be hard to decide which is the best. Since this is the case for me personally, it is easy to just completely botch a quiz because they are almost always all multiple choice, and for the sections of an exam that have multiple choice, I typically perform the worst on those sections.

While I mentioned Accounting in particular, I find this to be true for a lot of math-involved subjects.

Oh ok. I've always been super good at math so I guess that's why I don't understand. TBH when i was just a kid I never studied for any test and usually did alright at least, that is until I had my first geography test, which I failed cuz you can't just figure out where a country or state is (especially growing up in Hawaii) man I hated that class and that teacher. Ms. Methven was her name, and man I hope she is miserable right now. But I'm pretty sure my class made her cry at least once. So that's cool.

If the multiple choice question is something where you actually get to do math, you just get 4 answers to help you out, but you don't get points for showing your work, then it's pretty easy, basically just an easier word-problem since you are given the necessary info; but typically the questions I get on multiple choice are more recall-the-facts type questions, definitions and examples of here they apply.

If the class if basically going to be just a "remember the facts and definitions," I will do really well since my mind adjusts for that, but when I do Accounting or math, I'm not really in that mode.

I got you. Plus everyone learns better differently, so you probably aren't being taught those facts in a manner in which your brain will easily retain them. For example if I write something down, I'll remember it even if I never look at it again. My buddy needs repetition, to hear or say it over and over and over. So in highschool I would write out flashcards, that was my studying, and then id quiz him.
