How often do you get injured

I want to learn how to fight but if it means I'll be too injured to lift heavy it's not worth it imo

It depends on the level you want to do this at. Can you give me more details?

if you're careful and do everything the way you're supposed to, the likelihood of injury is minimal

I wrestled for four years in HS and played football for 2, and in college I played rugby

The only injuries I had in that time were a few knee contusions (enough that I have knee pain today), a sprained MCL (put me out of commission just two weeks but I shouldn't have wrestled on it so soon after), and a sprained left elbow. probably a few concussions I shouldn't have played through.

You shouldn't ever be too injured that you can't carry anything but you have to do things safely
like
when falling backwards don't use your arm to try and stop yourself, etc

Yeah this is basically too much injury for me to be cool with.

I had pneumonia for about a month and it set me back a lot, and a bad lower back injury set me back like a year, I don't want this to become a recurring theme

Like good enough to whoop people's asses, but not amateur fighter or anything, very rare full contact sparring if any.

Some striking skills, wrestling/judo, and groundgame.

Proper sparring is incredibly safe with a professional partner, the likelihood of getting hurt is next to none if you follow their guidelines. I trained boxing for a while and the only time I got hurt was when I hurt my wrist throwing a bad punch.

I thought not full contact sparring but still light contact was enough to practice technique and get good. Good enough to beat up regular people at least.

Full contact would just lead to brain damage

And if he never asks a girl out, he'll never have a relationship. Life is about taking risks; nobody remembers sitting on their arse doing nothing.
