Not one person thought, hey you know it may be a good idea to upload some of this stuff to the internet so that the record of it can be preserved indefinitely. Jpegs and text don't really "expire", and PDFs have proven to be pretty stable. It's all the bloated wrappers and attempts at interactivity that eventually stop working. The people stop paying for the servers, domain goes down and everything vanishes. I see it happen again and again.
