I feel like punk has more vibrance and a louder, more outgoing sort of attitude, especially with a focus on being anti-establishment, or at the least, anti-anything-keeping-them-down.

Goth, to me, is more of a style of wear and clothing than anything else. Usually all black, heavier emphasis on make-up than punk, and more reserved.

I never got the impression that punk and goth were all that much alike?

Nah, Punk and Goth formed only a few years apart. Punk became post-punk and goth and New Wave split from there.

Ya,.... no

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

Green day literally pops up when I google image 'punk' several times.

Punk is Green day, Green Day is punk.

goth tends to be anti establishment as well. just not as loud about it, and not every person I suppose. I always viewed goths as the quieter darker versions of punk.

I was goth myself younger but didn't really talk to many others even the other goths.

Emo - Depressed and whiny
Goth - Doom and gloom
Punk - Loud and rebellious

There's probably some overlap here and there. Green Day did hit an emo phase but they were primarily in the punk rock scene.

If you didn't have a closet of black clothes and hair that covered your eyes in high school I don't want to hear it. You don't know anything about punk if you think Green Day isn't punk. From this topic you already admitted you didn't know the difference, so...

I'm so triggered itt. How does this happen? As if this argument actually matters.

Punk: ripped jeans, leather jackets (preferably with spikes), hates authority, and listens to the clash
