The thing is a lot of the more well known "exclusives" that the system had have since been ported to newer, more popular systems so, unless you just like collecting these older systems and playing on them, there's not a whole lot of reasons to actually buy a Dreamcast system to play stuff like Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi, Power Stone, Jet Set/Grind Radio and Shenmue among a whole lot of others.
... With all that said, HELL YEAH I GOT A DREAMCAST! Actually, I've got two! The first one was choosey when it came to whether it wanted to read the discs or not so I picked up a second one at a Goodwill for chump change. I love it and I know the 9 year old in me is smiling from ear to ear that I finally own the thing after not getting one on Christmas of '99, MOTHER!!! ... Copied to Clipboard!

I hated the controller. and all the games on it I thought where good got ported to other systems later. so in hindsight i'm glad I never got one. if you enjoyed it good for you. fortunately I didn't know about street fighter 3 until after it got ported. as that one would have made it a must buy for me. I only remember Silver, Omikron and a flight "sim". The first two were great. The latter was sub-par.

Dreamcast would have won best 6th gen system were it not for Sega of Japan fucking everything up like they always have. Fuck, that makes me so angry.
The tl:dr of the book Console Wars (and I guess the history of it anyway) is that Sega was irrelevant in the video game market until Sonic came along and was only the success that it was with the help of Sega of America. Time and time again, SoA's smart moves helped prevent disasters on American soil, where the Genesis blew the SNES out of the fucking water, however, SoJ gave zero shit about overseas success and kept complaining about how Nintendo was beating their ass on native grounds. So what did they end up doing? They completely ignored SoA's suggestions against the Sega-CD and Saturn, only to - whoops, your company is dead! The arrogance and pride of having a foreign branch perform better than the original one led to Sega's demise as a console manufacturer, nothing else. If the CD and Saturn never launched, the Dreamcast could have absorbed the initial losses and reclaimed profits with a better starting price point and development costs. ... Copied to Clipboard!
